Stalwart Ultramarine Tactical Marine

I am having a friendly game with my buddy for fun but we are really competitive

I got my nilla marines and he is running Tau

I was thinking of running this list here

HQ
Librarian 100

Elites
Terminators
assault cannon 230

Dreadnaught
Lascannon ML 145

Troops
Tactical Squad
Melta gun ml Rhino w/ storm bolter hunter killer missle 230

Tactical Squad
Plasma gun ml 180

Scouts
heavy bolter stealth cloaks teleport homer 115

Fast Attack
Land Speeder
ML MM 100

Assault Squad
Power fist Storm shiel Flamer 150

I plan on maybe reserving everyone or just deploy the tac squad with the rhino dread and the libby and out flank the scouts deep strike my fast attacks and termies and just try to assault him but with the hk missle and the dread to get ride of any tanks he has

why am i sticky and naked did i miss something fun

the only advice i got is be real careful with your dreads placement, tau is gonna wanna kill that s9 48in linked shot and he has railguns....thats all i have to say haha.

I agree with Stormcallers. Railguns are gonna tear that dread and the Rhino Apart quick. Your assault squad will be key in neutralizing broadsides or a plasma crisis running around. Some good placement of your tactical squads should make them nice suit killers and objective holders. Watch out for hammerheads if he brings one to the fight.

Like the list, good luck.

1. Don't put anything in Reserve. Doing so give him the opportunity to take you apart piecemeal. It's what a tau player would want. Only one or two targets to focus all my fire power on? Great!
2. Don't Deep Strike either, for the Reserve reason above, simply use GoI to bring the termies closer. If you can change models, then I would DeathStar with a 10 termie group and take out the dread and Jumpers. If you don't have the models, then I guess play what you've typed.

Run the Libby with GateoI to bring the termies in closer, but they need to be larger in size.

DiRT52 wrote:Dreadnaught Lascannon ML
Not gonna last. I'd out him for more termies, if you can.

HK is a waste and is that an extra Storm Bolter? ; Instead, spend points on the PFist for sarge. Good for smashing 2 wounds suits. Extra Armor to get the rhino to the tau's lines.

DiRT52 wrote:Plasma gun ml
Toss the plasmagun. It is Rapid Fire and will prevent assaulting. Instead, go meltagun (again, to Instant Death Suits) and be able to assault tau infantry that same turn (use pistols, too). Also, do not stand and shoot the ML while the bolters are quiet. The key to beating tau is closing in and assaulting. This unit needs a rhino.

Have them Infiltrate (not Outflank). Then the Libby can use their telehomer to GoI close on Turn 1. Survive the round of shooting and then go eat some Greater Good.

DiRT52 wrote:Land Speeder ML MM
Use it to pop any Railheads, first thing.

It should be a full 10. 5 are too easily killed, but if that's what ya got ... you could gamble: promote them to Vanguard and try the Heroic Intervention. There aren't too many regular tau players in my local meta (me and one other dude, really), but I did pull it on him. Managing to multi-assault 3 units in his gun-line (quite some time back).
