Do you think that GW will ever continue it? Maybe even finish it with some big book, movie or video game?

For Emperor and Imperium!!!!
None shall stand against the Crusade of the Righteous!!!

The Emperor doesn't have a GKs unshakable faith in the Emperor which is....basically himself?

No, and I don't really want them to. The vague, unspecified end of the galaxy just around the corner is what makes the 40k universe so appealing. It's like a freeze frame of a huge calamitous war right before all of the forces engage.

Considering that Rick Preistly wanted to do this with Warhammer Forge (the books would be a trilogy of that outlined the end of the Warhammer world) and GW shut him down, I don't think they'd do it to their prime IP if they wouldn't for their less popular IP.

I kinda wish they did progress the storyline or at the very least, release a set of non cannon books that outlined the end of Warhammer 40k. Players would still be able to play continue/finish the storyline with their battles and fanfics. 40k has and always will be a hobby where players can make their own of it and such books wouldn’t affect this.

It would be interesting to see what kind of epic battles/events would happen further down in the storyline (such as the final battle for the imperium). It is the kind of thing that would shake things up in a good way I reckon.

That being said, it is clear the GW writers do not have the capacity to finish the storyline adequately.

I think it would be awsome if GW actually continued the storyline a bit, and personally I think it would be intersting to know who destroyed the imperium.

They've begun to move it into M42 (after all a 14th black crusade would be in M42), but I dont think they'd ever end it. Fall of Medusa V was in M42, as were the Ciaphus Cain novels.

Though when they do start using M42 dates, WH40k effectively becomes an artifact title, not that anythings wrong with that.

Problem with any definitive "end" is they'd have to do a reboot, like White Wolf did with 'World of Darkness'
