20 Dark matter shots, potentially 124 splinter shots 1st turn, and a couple of nice assault units. This is a new version, I used to run the small groups as wyches but thought this might be a bit more lethal.
I'm putting this first because this is the heart and soul of a list - the tactics. I'd like to note a couple of things.
For the same 30 points you're paying for a
FNP effect for your Hellions you could afford 3 Flickerfields on the Ravagers that would somewhat remove the need for the screen effect you're using here. Frankly the whole screening with Hellions things looks kinda - meh to me. The Raider should probably be moving flat out first turn anyway, FFs are almost as good as screening Hellions (and you're probably having to pack those Hellions in pretty tight to actually screen vehicles - which just screams blast or template weapon. Also, with their 3+ cover save the Hellions should be taking advantage of cover, which is an advantage not too many screening units get to do - usually they have to be heading up the center to be the screen anyway. I probably wouldn't try to play them as a screen - they're more expensive than what they're screening, and should probably just focus on getting up to the enemy and doing whatever it is Hellions are supposedly good at.
Baron Sathonyx
Haemonculus: Venom Blade, Liquifier, Shattershard (goes with wyches)
Pretty neutral on your Haemy loadout. If you're going to the expense of buying him a Shattershard you want to make sure he uses it. If he's with the Wyches they should probably move flat out or assaulting Turn 1, and probably be assaulting Turn 2 at the latest. Since odds are you'll be using run to get to your opponent the Haemy is a big issue to bring with the Wyches, and if the purpose of the Shattershard is just to fire once before you lumber into combat you can save money and not pay for the Liquifier. Mostly I'd just suggest droppi
ng the Venom Blade, odds are he's never getting into h2h combat, and if he does for some strange reason he can probably work off the Wyches efforts well enough.
Wracks: 3 wracks
Trueborn: 4 Trueborn with blasters, Venom with extra S/C
Trueborn: 3 Trueborn with blasters, Venom with extra S/C
My love of equality in units winces at this slightly. I'd probably free up the points for 4 Trueblasters in eaach boat, or save the points and opt for 3 each.
Just as a general note - the Wracks are Troops thanks to the Haemy. So they can at least squat on an objective in the backfield.
Warriors: 5 Warriors, 1 blaster, Venom with extra S/C
Warriors: 5 Warriors, 1 blaster, Venom with extra S/C
Warriors: 5 Warriors, 1 blaster, Venom with extra S/C
Wyches: 9 Wyches inc Hekatrix, Agoniser, Hydra gauntlets, Haywire Grenades, Raider
Happy with all of this.
Hellions: 19 Hellions
Waaaaaay too expensive to be a screening unit in my opinion. That said, you are at least maximizing the
FNP they're getting. I personally think there's many things that are superior to Hellions, but if you're focused on Hellions...well, you're probably trying about as functional of an option as I can think of. I would note though, as I've said, why do you want to take your most expensive unit and use it to protect the rest of your army? Yeah, 3+ cover saves is pretty wicked - but it's not exactly that impervious either, and that presumes you can get cover with your giant mob.
Ravager: 3 Dark Lances
Ravager: 3 Dark Lances
Ravager: 3 Dark Lances
Perfectly solid, could benefit from FFs.
Also, are your point totals correct? Maybe it's just because it's late but I do not have this list coming out to 1750. Maybe you left something out?
