This issue came up last night at the LGS...

A guy buys a Drop pod for 3 wolf guard. He also buys a Razorback for each of his 3 Grey Hunters. If the Wolf Guard split off into joining into the GHunter packs. Does this allow one of the Grey Hunter Packs to begin the game in the drop pod (since its not their dedicated transport but it is for the Wolf guard that joined them), and deploy the Razorback empty?

As you say, the pod is a dedicated transport that does not belong to the GH's, so they can not start the game in it. The Wolf Guard assigned as a pack leader is no longer a member of the unit for which the pod was purchased.

Can you take drop pods for wolf guard? All dedicated transport can only have the infantry/walker if was purchased for start the game in it. This is the same for every army.

No, but you could buy a razorback for the wolf guard and a drop pod for the GH's and deploy the razorback empty....

Yup. But what the OP's situation was could be easily remedied by purchasing the DP for the grey hunters instead of for the WG and the razorback for the WG as they are the same points either way, then allowing the GH's to be in the pod while the razorback stays empty.

That makes sense...

the pack leader becomes part of the unit for all purposes the rest of the game. Thus I agree with Insaniak that the WG would only be allowed to deploy via the GH dedicated transport.

I have a love /hate relationship with anything green.
