Was reading some of the magic items from the High Elves army book and read that The Amulet of Light gives the unit magical attacks, so I try to find it in the BRD to no avail.

So what do agical attacks do??

Belongs to Make Da Call

It allows you to harm etherals (Ghosts) and tree spirits (or do something to tree spirits) I believe

As kenshin said, magical attacks are mostly used to hit ethereal creatures, or hit things that have the "cannot be hit except by magical attacks" rule. It's not usually the magical status of the weapon, but mostly the stat it offers to the owner.

As for tree spirits, it typically removes a ward save they have.

And that only because it was the old demon ward save. I expect that will change with the new WE book when it comes out in 3014.

Good news. This is the best time in the hobby. Full of promise. GW lets us down each time and we know it but secretly we're hoping that this is the edition that GW gives us a balanced game that can also be played competitively at tournaments. I'm loving it.

Waiting for my shill money from Spiral Arm Studios

you can hurt things that are Etherial and ignore Forest Spirit ward saves.

magical attacks arn't super useful so unless thats a dirt cheap magic item then it isn't worth it. if its more then 10 points, leave it alone.

Self-proclaimed evil Cat-person. Dues Ex Felines

Cato Sicarius, after force feeding Captain Ventris a copy of the Codex Astartes for having the audacity to play Deathwatch, chokes to death on his own D-baggery after finding Calgar assembling his new Eldar army.

Yea the item is 15 points so thats an extra special model for a unit. not worth it over a sword master lol.

I think Grey Templar nailed it. You don't ever want to spend points on magical attacks or magic weapons, it's a waste. At least that's what the 5 wraiths and banshee on my painting table are telling me.

Really? If its more then 10 points, it's not worth it? So giving my doombull that sword that always grants frenzy and can never lose it, then dropping him into a mino unit so they always have frenzy isn't worth it?

In context it would be "if all the item does is grant magical attacks and costs more than 10 points then...", not all items in general
