Lets say I have a Tyranid Prime (an IC) joined to a squad of termagants. The unit is fearless due to being within 12" of synapse. The unit assualts and loses by say 5 wounds. Does IC take 5 fearless saves separately from the termagants? In otherwords would the Prime take 5 fearless wounds in addition to the Termagants taking 5 fearless wounds? Or does the combines unit take 5 fearless saves?

IC's are only considered a separate unit when it comes to CC and attaking, when fearless saves are made the IC is a part of the unit.

So the unit as a whole will take 5 saves.

As above. They are one unit when it comes time for combat resolution. If he were NOT joined, then each unit would suffer the consequences separately.

The unit takes 5 saves, the IC doesn't take them individually. I did find myself in one situation where a Lord Commisar had given an infantry squad fearless, and loss combat by 9. The IC had to take the saves in that case because there were no other models left to take the wounds. He promptly failed them all.

But answer is no, IC doesn't take any additional saves that the unit would take.
