Hey everyone, I would like to ask a fast one,
For flying vehicles like valkyries/stormraven gunships etc, do i measure movement and shooting from their body (like vehicles) or from their bases?
Thank you in advance.

You can measure movement from whatever point you like, as long as you use the same point each time. The base would be most practical though.
All vehicles always measure shooting from the actual weapon shooting, no difference for large skimmers here.

7 Ork facts people always get wrong:
Ragnar did not win against Thrakka, but suffered two crushing defeats within a few days of each other.
A lasgun is powerful enough to sever an ork's appendage or head in a single, well aimed shot.
Orks meks have a better understanding of electrics and mechanics than most Tech Priests.
Orks actually do not think that purple makes them harder to see. The joke was made canon by Alex Stewart's Caphias Cain books.
Gharkull Blackfang did not even come close to killing the emperor.
Orks can be corrupted by chaos, but few of them have any interest in what chaos offers.
Orks do not have the power of believe. |

Measure from the base, its a lot easier that trying to get the nose into the exact position without moving it incorrectly. Also less risk of it falling on my footsloggers
But either way is correct.

Everything on a skimmer (which the Valk/Vend/Raven are) measure as normal except with the additional allowance of assaulting the base. This means that except for shooting, everything is measured to the hull. An additional allowance is made in the IG FAQ for disembarking and contesting to be measured from the base. pg 71, btw, under "Measuring Distances"

Look at your comment. Back to mine. Back to yours NOW BACK TO MINE. Sadly, it isn't mine. But if you stopped trolling and started posting legitimate crap it could LOOK like mine. Minor addendum: the rules for skimmers with bases can be found on p71 of the rulebook, but Valkyries, Vendettas and Stormravens have a few special rules for their bases. See the IG FAQ or the BA/GK codices for details.

Looking back at my post, I meant only movement can be measured to the base. You must measure to the guns for weapon distance/LOS.

With the stormraven I have found it is much easier to measure for movement from the base, but you can measure movement from whatever point on the model you choose as long as you make sure that you measure from and to the same point on the model.

Except that the Valk/vend and storm raven also allow you to measure to the base for disembarking and for claiming/contesting objectives.
See the storm raven's rules and the IG FAQ.

the base is only used for Embarking, Disembarking, and contesting objectives.
everything else uses the Hull as normal for a vehicle.
