I post this once before and got accused of trolling, so I went to my LGS and talked to the owner and he allowed me to read the letter from GW. Finecast mini's will not be stocked in the US for the forseeable future. They will be special order only and stores are only allowed to order 3 of any finecast model at a time. In addition to that there was a warning about trying to circumvent the system. Finecast will be in very limited supply in the US.

Seriously though, I am not sure what to think about this. I guess I need to see the list of finecast models first to see if this is really going to effect me.

They can keep them. Now I just need a day off so I can list my orks, dark eldar, and blood angels on ebay.

Why didn't they do this with their splash releases so everyone got a chance to get those items instead of just ebay scalpers?

no its 3 at a time, so if you want 4 stern guard kits they can only order you 3 on one order then they have to place a second order for the last kit. Its not 3 per week. Sorry if I wasn't clear. It is inflated shipping cost to the customer. Please ask your LGS if they will have finecast this Saturday and if not how many you can order at once.

Look at the recent posts from them here. Everything is centralized on antagonizing GW or GW customers.

If this were true, you still got the wrong idea.

Your store isn't "allotted 3 resin models for their weekly order". They're allotted 3 of a specific model. Like 3 Lemartes, 3 Calgars, 3 Dantes, etc.

It still isn't a good system, but there's a difference.

I was told by the owner of a LGS that he wasn't going to be able to get any Finecast stuff in until approximately October. Until then it was limited to GW stores and "premier stores". So I guess I am going to Ebay to get the last couple Hive Guard models I need. Or is GW still producing the metal versions until Finecast is widespread?

It's a good idea to get the metal now if you need it, in my opinion. Better safe than sorry...

LGSes are getting screwed. Not the US.

It's not uncommon for things like this to happen. LGSes and non "premiere" stores are likely going to be the way that GW ensures the sale of the old metal stock.

Change materials
Raise prices
Make them direct order or store order only
Limit the number of a particular miniature a store can buy


At this point, they could say "And when you purchase a Finecast Miniature, you get a complimentary (mandatory) kick in the nuts after cash out----and I wouldn't be shocked.

Wait, I am totally confused. GW is going to be limiting the sale of a huge portion of their model line, the products that they are touting left and right on the web etc? Why (beyond the fact that GW has generally bone-headed marketing policies) would they do this? It dones't make sense. Don't they WANT us to buy this stuff? I can imagine that it will be tricky for them to meet demand perhaps since this is a big change in production for them, but to basically say "we're changing to resin, but you can't have any!" is tantamount to just shutting down the metal range entirely.

I don't accuse you of trolling, but I would have to see a picture of that "letter" or similar proof to believe this, jsut based on the fact that it seems so utterly absurd as to almost certainly not be true.

I've been waiting 23 years for them to get rid of metal. I can wait a few more months.

you are limited to 3 of each model per month as they build up stock. Its not special order, there's just a limit until they build up enough quantity to fill any size order

Do you really think the entire current stock of Hive Guard, worldwide, is going to be selling out in 5 months? And do you really think that the entirety of Canada will not be getting Finecast?

That, if this rumor is true, is not the case. Your LGS will not be able to get Finecast. Your local GW shop will be able to.
