As there isn't a GK Dreadnought kit, I'm assuming people are using the SM basic kit... However, all the Dreadnought in the GK have the 'helmet' head that is found on the venerable dread... is it okay to use a 'normal' dreadnought for your GKs? Do either kit come with all the weapon options (I'm pretty much interested in double Auto-Cannon Dread here), or will bits hunting be required?

Also... what are you guys using for Grand Master, since there is no kit for it (and no plastic kit for SM commander in Terminator armor) as far as I can tell.

As long as it is Drednought shaped it doesn't matter all to much what type of dreadnought you use.
Venerable, Normal, chaos (if you are a touch mental) or FW.
I think people are kitbashing their GMs from GK parts.

What weapons are included in the Dreadnought sprues?

Lascannon, Assault cannon and missile launcher IIRC.
The Venerable also comes with a plasma cannon.
It is fairly simple to make an autocannon using the guard heavy weapons team sprue.

Any Dreadnought parts will do for any unit choice, obviously you'd prefer it not to be festooned in Chaos or Blood Angles iconography. I have one venerable using all the stuff from that kit, one using a modified Death Company dread face, and another using just the ordinary kit with the Furisio Librarian face and a Grey Knight helmet.

As for the Grand Master, I bought a extra box of terminators and used it with the bitz left from another box to convert all my HQ choices, Captain, Grand Master, Librarian, Chaplain, and Brotherhood Champion. With a good helping of green-stuff.

Are autocannons cheaper to buy from Forge World or the IG heavy weapons teams?

There are a number of them (tutorials) floating around the nets.

Right arm one generally hinges on the assault cannon arm (with large ammo box and feet belt), and 'spare' IG autocannon barrels.

Left arm one is generally the missile pod arm without the launcher faceplate (with the missile holes in it) and two more 'spare' barrels and maybe a spare ammo drum or two.

The CHAOS metal dread comes with twin (snubnose) autocannons and is the only kit to do so.

Does it not have a twin-linked Heavy Bolter either?

The Imperial Bastion's quad-Autocannon mount is the best source for your Psyflemen GK dread. Personally, I like the look of the Venerable and Ironclad Dreads over the regular one, so I was to do a Psyfleman, I'd use the Ven Dread with the AC's from the quad mount.

Not cheap, but looks nice.

@Jeffersonian: you meant Aegis defense line. the Bastion only comes with an Icarus Lascannon.

Forge World's autocannons will run you about $11.60 each plus shipping. so enough for one dred will be $23.40 plus shipping.

the Aegis defense line is $22.50 and will do one dred completely.

the Aegis defense line is cheaper, looks just as good, and will likely be in stock at your store. plus, you get some cool terrrain
