Subject: Behind enemy lines SM concept army - can it be pseudo-competitive?

Not sure if this should be here or in Army Lists ...
I have been mulling around this idea to do an army based on Scouts operating behind enemy lines calling down the rest of the army as deep strikers, including some Sternguard as Deathwatch. So the basis of the army would be 2-3 squard of SM Scouts (with Sniper Rifles), one or two squads of Sternguard (Deathwatch) in drop pods and a squad of terminators. Everything else would be deep strikers (or some kind of equivalent). Is there any way to make this basis into a pseudo-competitve army? I won't take it to tournaments, but if I took it to the LGS I would like to not get my butt handed to me every game.
Thoughts?

I wouldn't have thought sniper scouts were the best unit to plonk in the thick of the enemy territory and help drop units in. LSS scouts with a beacon might work.

my friend has a complete scout based army at 1850. 6 squads of 10 with two being snipers w/ cammo cloaks. the others are typical bolter/hvy bolter stuff. there is a small squad of scout bikers and a couple of speeders.
It is great in objecitve based games due to the combat squad rules.

True, sniper scouts might not be the best from a game stand point, but they would be fluffy, would they not. IRL type of fluffy anyway.
I never noticed this before, but SM Terminators don't deep strike? I guess they are out then, that is lame. Guess I am spoiled by my Deathwing.

From a fluffy standpoint Scouts go in with whatever is appropriate. If you're going for very deep tactical insertion you don't want a sniper rifle on all your troops. To put that in tabletop perspective, that sniper rifle will be stuck not shooting at anything.
And Terminators deepstrike, it's just "teleporting". That's what the Teleporter homer is for. Locater beacon does the same job except for anything that deepstrikes.

First off big weakenss of this list is having everything reserved. however I love this list concept its awesome
Personally I find the single hardest thing with this list is figuring out what HQ to take. I think for this concept shrike is probably your best bet for an HQ. fleet scouts with bp and CCW and a sarge with a PF is a pretty awesome first turn assault.
Shrike also infiltrates which is handy and in your theme. Also guys you can help me as I don't seem to recall whether or not Shrike can join a squad and they get infiltrate. If so you could have an infiltrating termi squad! also don't forget scout bikes and speeders!

What about Tigurius for an HQ? He would help on the reserves front.
Infiltrating your scouts might be more effective than outflanking. You can put them in forward positions and use a locator beacon sergeant to guide the reserves in.
