Subject: mindstrike missiles and hive tyrant with tyrant guard

ok this was a bit confusing for us and we had a heated debate about it. Here is the situation, I fired all 4 mindstrike missiles at a hive tyrant with 2 hive guards. I placed the blast marker center on the tyrant, of the 4 missiles I scored 3 "hits" and the 4th shot deviated 2 inches but still hit the unit nonetheless. Here is the question that was raised, we all know that a psyker that gets hit with mindstrike missiles suffer a perils of the warp in addition to the possible wounds it may suffer by being hit. How do we determine if the psyker is hit? In this case the psyker is part of a unit. Does the blast marker need to hit the psyker? Or all hits against the unit with a psyker in it counts as being hit? It would have been easier if to wound causes the effect since wounds can be allocated later on, but what about being hit? Technically there is no hit allocation and in 5th ed there is no specific model targeting. We argued that as long as the unit with a psyker is hit, the psyker in the unit would suffer a perils of the warp in this case the tyrant dies since the unit with the tyrant was hit 4 times. They counter argued that the psyker in a unit cannot be hit since he cannot be targeted. So how should this be resolved? Thanks

BRB page 30 "blast", 8th paragraph. The rules there tell you that all models at least partially under the Blast marker, after determining it's final position, are hit.

This is my Rulebook. There are many Like it, but this one is mine. Without me, my rulebook is useless. Without my rulebook, I am useless.
Stop looking for buzz words and start reading the whole sentences.

Although wounds are allocated, models are hit that are under a blast or template.
Edit: bah, or as Kel said.

As above.
If the blast marker touches or overlaps the HT base, he is hit. Wound allocation is irrelevant.

Yeah, the Mindstirke missile rules work okay because blasts technically 'hit' models and then wounds caused get allocated throughout the unit, so the Perils attack can still effectively be triggered when the blast lands over the Tyrant.
The REAL problem is the stake-crossbow on the Inquisitor (good thing no one will play with it), because that ISN'T a blast weapon, there is absolutely no clear way to tell when a psyker is 'hit' by this weapon, especially as you don't allocate wounds to specific models until after rolling 'to wound', so you could easily fail 'to wound' with the stake-crossbow and never allocate the shot to a particular model, but technically the unit was still 'hit' by the Stake-crossbow, so there should be *some* chance that a psyker in a unit could be hit.
...it's a terribly written rule.

agreed about that xbow, they could have at least written it to say that a psyker or a unit with a psyker is affected by rules bla bla bla...
thanks for the responses, makes sense since blast are easier to prove what model was hit.
