Okay, I'm merely looking for clarification on this because I'm a little unsure if I have it right.
The Retribution Myrmidons have two damage tracks. Am I to take this as two damage grids, with one being the shield and the other being the Warjack itself?
Next, you go through the first track before applying damage to the second, yes? Is the first track the same layout as the second?

You apply damage to the 6 or 10 point Shield Track before applying damage to the grid. An attack that chooses a column targets the Shield before dealing damage to the grid. An attack that chooses a system targets the system directly.

So, I play it like there are 6-10 points that damage can be leveled into before applying anything to the damage grid then?
EDIT: Nevermind, I get this now. I've just been having some trouble reading these rules (little bit of a case of 40k-itis but I think I've figured it out.

The Shield Track isn't the same size as the grid

It does make more sense that it isn't

And damage comes off that same grid when you regenerate the shields.

Maybe it will help you to see an actual card for a Retribution Myrmidon. If you notice, to the right of the main grid is the Shield Damage track. Damage gets applied there first, then to the grid.

Something that should be noted is that sniper deals damage to the field track and not the actual grid. The only time that you can get around the field is when an attack specifically says a cortex, or something else along those lines.
