I've always thought wolves were one of the coolest animals around, but as I looked into Space Wolves I hated them as a chapter. Ever since I started 40k I've been looking for different approaches on wolf based armies, so I decided to use the Space Wolves codex for a lycan army and developed my own background for them.

Briefly put, these guys used to be Space Wolves and were subject to the experiment of chaos sorcerers. The experimentation left them half human half wolf and in constant pain. They sought the help of the Space Wolves they once called brothers, but were shunned by their fellow marines because their blood was tainted with the Thousand Sons' magic.

Now they surround themselves with wolves to feel a higher sense of belonging and to feel more human. They constantly face internal conflict because though killing is the only way to mitigate their pain they'd rather act civilized and keep peace to feel more human and less like monsters. The few that kept the most human qualities lead them to war to temporarily ease their constant suffering.

Now they separate themselves into two sects: those who strive to be accepted by the Space Wolves and those who live to hunt them to extinction.

As his brother I can confirm that is indeed the only greenstuff'd model he has as of yet.

"Let the galaxy burn!"

sounds interessting and looks promising!
and i too can only praise the idea to have other wolven marines that dont carouse all the time and do other useless things... like the ambivalence in your fluff... very dramatic, a bit like the old fashioned comicbook antihero protagonists...

hope i could encourage you a bit^^

Thanks for the comments.

I mainly wanted to see what people thought of the actual modeling work. Being somewhat new to the warhammer universe my green stuff skills aren't amazing...

Yet

But now that I have some confirmation the army will probably grow larger than one guy.

Also does anyone know if the wolves under mounts in fantasy on GW could possibly be piled with enough green stuff to work as TWC.

based on the one WHFB wolf cav i got i can say they look too tiny for me... BUT a friend of mine has done just that...partly...see:

somewhere he converted one of the fantasy wolves into TWCs...

For being new to WH and using GS your work is quite good. I"m looking forward to seeing the rest of your army.

That's some good quality GS work for anyone - if you say you haven't got much experience, that makes it really really promising! I think maybe the sleeve on his L arm could use a little work, but that's great stuff. Keep it up!
