Subject: What makes large squad of Charriot good in this edition?

I have been reading Tomb King Tactics ever since TK is released, and i kept seeing everyone suggesting a unit of 6 Chariots.
But i dont understand, am i missing something? I know it has +1 for that extra rank , so its still D3 impact , str 5?
But half of the chariot ( back rank ) does nothing in a charge no? And they get no support attack if stuck in either?
So arnt we basically paying double the point for +1 str impact hit?

I keep seeing that 7 chariots is the "magic" number, for chariots. 4 front, 3 in back.
Impact hits for chariots is now d6, so you would get 4d6 str5 attacks that can be imparted with Killing Blow, along with 16 str4 attacks from the horsemen, and 8 str3 attacks.
That being said, 4d6 str4 impact hits really isn't that different, and the extra chariots, at that point, become ablative wounds, to make sure your get into combat with your unit.

Yeah, last edition they were d3. They have been upgraded with their new book.
It's being argued right now whether or not they do, but the BR8 seems to suggest they are attacks, and all attacks get KB is the understanding that is being come to.

I think im one of the ones that thinks 6 chariots is stupid....
1. its a huge block asking to have war machines blast it... even with a 6 inch scatter you will still probably hit it.
2. You only need to kill ONE chariot to drop the impact hits from str5 to str4, with T4 at 3 wounds each, and only a 5+ save normal archers can do that pretty easily.
3. If you dont break the unit you charge you lose combat in the next few rounds, you just dont do enough damage.
My opinion is run them in units of 2-3 and hit the flanks of units you have already engaged, OR smash them into Small elite units that you can wipe on the charge.

I'm guessing it's confusion with monstrous beasties who get all their attacks and +1 CR for 2 ranks of 3
