Decided to make a tank destroyer in the WW2 German Tank hunter style (similar to the Elefant). C&C welcome!

Quick question, would you let me use this as a Medusa w/Bastion Breacher shells if I fielded it in a game? Thought that the Medusa AT shells would fit the rules for a tank destroyer the most.

That's one of the better conversions I've seen but I'd have sawed that barrel down lol. Still, not nearly as ridiculous as the Tank Destroyer Leman Russes on Forgeworld lol.

But the hull is certainly Medusaish so go for it

I hope you're planning to fill in those huge gaps in the barrels as well as the gap between the hull and cannon, but otherwise it looks good, and yes, I would personally let you use it as a Medusa.

Heh, it's very much a WIP for my renegade chaos guard army, the gaps are there for all the daemonic ichor that's going to be pouring out of it.

Wouldn't the vanquisher leman russ be the best fit for it?

Perhaps it's not the best photo, but the big volcano cannon sort of just slots on the earthshaker cannon, it's basically so i can change it back into a basilisk when I'm not using it as the medusa.

Will take an overhead shot later to show what I mean.

Ah yeah well I can definitely see how the cannon could rotate up to look more like basilisk. My first reaction to it was that it looked like a tank destroyer. I see what you're talking about though, and it does give you some nice versatility.

I agree that the barrel's too long, but i like the general Elefant concept. A magnetised modular barrel mount would be a good idea, allowing you to swap between various barrels.

If that's a skull on the side, I just noticed that it's upside down?

Might want to file that off

Ah yes, I am in fact planning to remove all former Imperial symbols (skulls and all) and replace them with etched brass symbols dedicated to the true powers (chaos).

That was sort of my thinking when making this, after looking through some more realistic 40k tank designs, I didn't think the aesthetic of a shorter smaller barrel worked as well to the theme of 40k, so I decided to go all out over the top too exaggerate the tank hunter feel of the conversion, which 40k does quite well in the design of both tanks and infantry models.

I also wanted to avoid using a slim barrel to distinguish it from my other basilisks, which are using the same hull.

Here's a comparison shot between a regular basilisk and the medusa.

The "converted" turret fits onto the earthshaker that's already on the basilisk.

As promised, the overhead. the gap will of course be filled with either ichor or some sort of clear plastic to illustrate a sort of energy glow (haven't really decided if I should use small LEDs to do this or not). I'm thinking that instead of firing shells, the barrel would be more like a laser cannon similiar to the Valdor or just a big volcano cannon. I'm liking the idea of making it look unstable by adding guitar wire to the barrel connecting to the gap, while adding some substance in the gap and painting it with OSL to make it seem overcharged.
