Hi guys need some help here.
I am unable to play warhammer in a hobby center i only am able to play with two friends and because of this we tend to not know the rules as well as we should.
I played a game on vassal against a guy, and in the assault phase my independent charter couldn't attack because he was not b2b, but he said that he could still attack my IC because he was part of the unit even though he was not b2b with any models? is this right? thank you for your time and help.

If the IC is not in b2b with any of the models in his unit then he cannot attack the IC. The IC is treated like a separate units for the purposes of determining 'who can fight'

Also, when assaulting or pile in moves are made, you have to attempt to get the IC into BtB if at all possible and his moves are made before others. People can not choose to move them last so they don't get hurt or targeted.

Nkelsch - actually you're not correct.

When ASSAULTING you are under no compunction to move ICs first, only with Defenders react and pile in.

Agreed.

On Dakka he was Eldanar. In our area, he was Lee. R.I.P., Lee Guthrie.

An IC can neither attack nor can he BE attacked if not in B2B.

There are no rules for ICs moving first other than "Defenders React".

Ork Nobs aren't independent characters, anyway.

See page 49 for details of how to resolve independent characters in assault. In short, they are treated as a separate unit when all attacks are made, but he re-joins the squad as soon as squads have to start taking morale tests.

You also have to move an IC first when making a pile-in move.

Which is how you keep Eldrad - the most cowardly Eldar Farseer alive (but also the coolest ) out of harms way.

7 Ork facts people always get wrong:
Ragnar did not win against Thrakka, but suffered two crushing defeats within a few days of each other.
A lasgun is powerful enough to sever an ork's appendage or head in a single, well aimed shot.
Orks meks have a better understanding of electrics and mechanics than most Tech Priests.
Orks actually do not think that purple makes them harder to see. The joke was made canon by Alex Stewart's Caphias Cain books.
Gharkull Blackfang did not even come close to killing the emperor.
Orks can be corrupted by chaos, but few of them have any interest in what chaos offers.
Orks do not have the power of believe.

Technically he's not even alive anymore.

For thirteen years I had a dog with fur the darkest black. For thirteen years he was my friend, oh how I want him back.
