So I've decided to finally crank out my Imperial Guard army that i've been sitting on for nearly a decade. After watching Enemy at the Gates again, I've come up with a paint scheme that I like, that was also fast and easy enough to get good results that I feel like I could actually get my IG done!
Here is the first squad:
It's a pretty simple scheme, which is given a delvan mud wash to quickly shade the models. Not my finest work, but I like the results, considering the time invested.

Nice looking army, solid paint job, excellent execution of the concept.
FYI: If you're planning on making this a blog, you might want to ask a mod to move this thread to the P & M Blog section.

Looks great! I love the Valhallan models, too few IG players who collect the other regiments.

That movie...
I went with some buddies to see it in the theater when it came out. The arty streaking across the Volga made my skin crawl. Watching a Stuka strafe those flat boats with those 37mm... I felt like I was pitching a tent in my seat. I am such an ENORMOUS(!!!) WWII fan, this movie was a brilliantly shot story about a brilliant test between two brilliant warriors. The sets were unbelievable, the clothing, weapons, and gear were all spot on realistic,. The CGI effects were 2nd to none. Then, midway through the WWII nerdgasm of a film...
Vasily finds love in the rubble of a bombed out basement.
Stupid hollywood. Why does EVERY MOVIE have to have a g******** love story?
The more I think about it, the more I feel like swimming across the Pacific to pay downtown L.A. a little...visit.

At least it was good reference for uniform painting, lol.

These are some of the best Valhallans that I've seen, well done! I love the gritty Stalingrad-esque paint scheme and bases, they suit these guys perfectly. Mounting the heavy weapons on a 60mm base makes these guys fit right in with the current GW feel (although the metal regiments have so much more character!). Don't see nearly enough of 'em these days! The icing on the cake would be to put some grain/texture in the wooden lasguns stocks, but that sort of thing can be helluva fiddly.
Paint more, though! These are Valhallans, you need 100+ downtrodden infantry and an artillery battery! lol

Hurr! Ogryn Bone 'Ead!

Excellent work keep it up! Kudos to wanting to spend the extra money and effort to get the models for a lesser represented army.

The pen is mightier then the sword, but you must keep a sword handy for when the pen runs out of ink.
