I am trying Deamons out for competition at my FLGS and was musing over a list. I would be greatly appreciative of any thoughts you all have.

Personlly I'd drop the GUO for a Tzerald- herald of Tz with chariot, bolt, mastery of sorc and we are legion- much cheaper and I personally think much more deadly

Also your second Horror squad should be 185 points, since you upgrade one horror to the changling, not add the base cost of another onto it.

And Im not a fan of the SG, I'd replace it with some Daemon Princes, but personal preference. Lovely model.

I went with the GUO to pull shots off of the SG and its cheaper than trying to make a Herald on a flying chariot.

the second horror squad I have 10 horrors and a changling.

I agree but I like the look of the SG.

I, personally, would have 4 lots of 5 horrors rather than 2 lots of 10..In fact, I'd have 2x5 Horrors, both with bolt, and then get Deamonettes instead...but if yu want shooty deamons, units of 5 horrors, each with bolt, is the most flexible way.

I think splitting one horror unit is a good idea, running the other one with 9 horrors is not a bad idea (I like to use sacred numbers where possible so I always go with 9 over 10).

Also, join the fiends into one unit, after shooting the 1 or 2 fiends left won't be enough. Fiends own because they have 30-36 high strength attacks coming in at I5. If they do not clear out most of an enemy with those attacks they tend to go down pretty easily, especially to hordes.

That is a pretty strong list, you are going to need to play it a few times to get a feel for it and determine what changes you need to make. What do you think on your waves split? I might go...

4x Horrors in my primary wave and then...

SG, Fiends, GUO and PB in the second wave

The reason being you want to shoot to open transports, horrors can shoot the turn they come in to start the process so even if you get a non-preferred wave you can then be setup to immediately assault the units you have blown out of transports.

I also like to insulate my SG when they are not primary anti-tank until some of the meltas are tied up in combat.

I thought the same thing about the waves, but I don't really know how to hide a premature SG other than behind a LOS blocking peice or terrain.

If you put it over 20" back from their lines you are pretty safe in AV 13 for a turn against most armies. AV 13 is really powerful at 1000 points since most opponents will not have that many lascannons/assault cannons to deal with it.
