I'm messing around with my Wraithguard to include Prince Yriel in the list. He's not a Wraith construct or a Psyker, but he still fits the Iyanden fluff - so I think it's ok to include him.

I've decided to try and go for three squads on foot. My logic for including wraithlords was to assist the wraithguard in close combat if the needed it. I feel that Yriel somewhat fufills this role, and has the added safety of being in a unit where he can't be shot. This has obviously cost me some points, so i've come up with two new 1750 lists:

Option 1

10 x Wraithguard, w/Spiritseer, Singing Spear, Conceal (Troops)
10 x Wraithguard, w/Spiritseer, Singing Spear, Conceal (Troops)
8 x Wraithguard, w/Spiritseer, Singing Spear, Conceal (Elites)

Eldrad
Yriel

Wraithlord w/Bright Lance + Eldar Missile Launcher
Wraithlord w/Wraithsword

Total - 1747 Points

The other list I created is similar.

Option 2

10 x Wraithguard, w/Spiritseer, Singing Spear, Conceal (Troops)
10 x Wraithguard, w/Spiritseer, Singing Spear, Conceal (Troops)
10 x Wraithguard, w/Spiritseer, Singing Spear, Conceal (Troops)

Eldrad
Yriel

Wraithlord w/Bright Lance + Eldar Missile Launcher

Total - 1717 Points

I'm losing 30 points, but I couldn't find another permutation that would match up. I've lost another wraithlord, but i've made my third foot slogging unit scoring as well, which I think reduces a big problem that this army has.

So what's the verdict? Coments welcome!

Do three squads work?
I've never seen a list with 3 squads, only 2.

I've had mixed success. A list like this tends to annihilate Drop pod lists, as well as Daemons. Dark Eldar make a complete mess of it (though that's to be expected).

Well yeah, any kind of fast mech will be near impossible to win against and even standard Mech will be hard to beat.

As to answer your original question, i think having the second Wraithlord is better.

Maybe, try dropping the squad of 8, adding another Wraithlord and some Harlequins. As a variant on this list.

I've run lists with 2 squads before but recently they just haven't been working for me. I've actually gotten better mileage out of guardian defenders in my foot list. Sounds odd but for the same price as a single WG squad you can get 40 guardians + their weapons platforms.

I've had a hard time taking wraith guard over 40 guardians with DE bouncing around.
