Good day!

I don't really play BFG, but with me leaving my beloved club behind, I figure I'll have to own some spaceship models and games that a wider variety of people play, namely BFG to get my spaceship fix. That being said, I kindly ask you tear this list apart and let me know what works and what doesn't.

Fleet Admiral - 50pts

Imperial Emperor Class Battleship - /365pts

Imperial Dominator Class Cruiser - /190pts

Imperial Dictator Class Cruiser - /220pts

Imperial Lunar Class Cruiser - /180pts
Imperial Lunar Class Cruiser - /180pts

Imperial Dauntless Class Light Cruiser - /110pts
Imperial Dauntless Class Light Cruiser - /110pts

Imperial Sword Class Frigate - /35pts
Imperial Sword Class Frigate - /35pts

Imperial Sword Class Frigate - /35pts
Imperial Sword Class Frigate - /35pts

Total: 1495

I figure I'll put the admiral with the Dictator. I'll run the Lunars in a squadron, as will the Dauntlesses and the Swords in two pairs. The Dauntlesses are stock with the prow lances.

Is there anything I'm missing or things I should tweak? Good enough?

Hey,

First off, the admiral needs to be in the most expensive ship so he'll be in your Emperor. Which I'd say is a good thing, when you want that ordinance to reload you'll want reliable leadership.

I've never had much luck with the dauntless, but I think that's more my fault as an admiral than a fault with the ship.

I might put all of the sword classes in one squadron. They will lose one or two ships moving into range so you should design escort squadron assuming two losses before you get in to range.

All in all it looks good to me though.

Cheers,
Turkey

Imperial Admirals do not need to be in the most expensive ships, that's chaos warlords.

The Emperor already gets a +1 to it's leadership, so unless you roll terribly, he should indeed be in the dictator.

I have found the dauntless a valuable ship myself, as long as you don't push it down the front line and expect it to hold up like a standard cruiser. Also remember due to it's low stats that halving and rounding up means that conversely, it actually does very well when crippled as you don't lose nearly as much as you do from a standard cruiser, also rotate the two dauntless as they move, so that once one is taking damage, bring it's sister onto that flank to take some hits.

OP, The list is good, consider assigning one of those two duos of swords as protection for your emperor.

Yup, in the Imperial Navy you can place the admiral where you want him to be.
So if the Emperor rolled Ld 8 or 9 no direct need to place the admiral there. Kinda fluffy to still do so however.

The list ain't bad. Only the even numbered Sword squadrons can be iffy. Odd numbered is better.

Why not:
Drop 1 Sword -35 pts (So you have 1 squad of 3).

40pts left.

Add a re-roll, with 2 carriers & torps never wasted.
Add shark assault boats to the Emperor.

Thanks for the advice guys.

I think I'll drop one of the Swords and add a reroll plus assault boats. That also helps me when buying the the models, considering the escorts come in packs of three.

Cheers!
