Have noticed a couple of times now, that when logged in, if I click any of the buttons at the top of the screen "Forum, Gallery, Article etc" it automatically logs me out. Do you know what the cause is? And is anyone else getting affected by this as well?

If I click the links to access the various threads I get no problem and can post normally, but once I click one of the top buttons its log out time for Mr HG

Have also deleted all cookies and cache etc, tested it again and still the same thing, logs me out if I hit the Forum button etc

Try:
1. Navigate away from dakka and make sure it has no pages open anywhere on your browser (on any window)
2. clear cookies
3. restart browser
4. log in again (with 'remember me' checkbox enabled).

That should get it. If you clear cookies with the site still open, it might recreate some that it expects to find.

I restarted the server a few times recently to do some emergency updates and so if you were signed in at the time, it might have muddled your config a bit. Clearing cookies in the fashion above would fix it if that is the case.

The only other thing it could be is if you have a constantly changing IP address (using AOL or a proxy server).

Yes have already done that as I was aware of someone having a similar issue a few months back and you advised the same. Tried it and it is still doing the exact same thing.

I'm still on explorer version 8, if thats of any help as I know a newer version is out

Additionally, just navigated to the survivor thread I'm involved with, got all the way to it, but when I clicked on page two for the actual topic I got logged out. Not sure if that helps, just mentioning as much info as I can in case it does help.

This happened to me a couple times yesterday as well.

It seems to have cleared up though. Just thought I'd mention it.

Right well I feel a bit of a pratt, but I'm still going to post this so others who get this happening to them will know what to do.

(1) Click Tools at the top and go to internet options from the drop down menu

(2) Click the Privacy tab and then click Sites on the left handside of this tab

(3) Check to see if www.dakkadakka.com is listed as "Always Block", if it is, click on it and then then click the remove button.


When going through all my PC settings (after lego kindly helped me determine that the issue was definatly my pc and not dakka) I had a brain wave to check the above as i remember my friend used my PC last wednesday and that oddly enough was when the problem first started to appear. It didn't occur to me to check before as I wouldn't feel the need to block the dakka cookies but I bet my friend thought it was spam or something.
