Do you really need to dilute the Dettol, or is it just to save money?

It didn't with me. I didn't dilute it at all.

I put some minis in about 45 minutes ago, as when casually surfing the interwebz, I saw that many people diluted it, I then became slightly worried, posted this and when down the check my minis. The results were staggering. The paint flaked off very easily, undercoat and all just from my fingers.

Antiseptic dettol doesn't need diluting. I just put minis in there for a few days and scrub them when the come out

When I tried diluting, it didn't work - probably used too much water

A trick is to moisturise your hands straight after cleaning your models - you'll still get a slight "scaly" or dry effect to the upper layer of your skin but it doesn't actually cause any real damage or become itchy. Remember to wash the models in Dettol first, and then water, otherwise the paint goes gloopy rather than washing off

In a world gone mad, who is left to fight for truth, justice and all that gets you smashed for under a fiver....

First played 40k during 2nd edition, missed out 3rd and 4th, and haven't played 40k since 5th edition - but still read and occasionally paint

Used Antiseptic Dettol - undiluted - wreaks havoc on bare skin, so remember to use gloves - stripped the minis which had my terribly thick straight from the pot paint on in around 40 - 50 minutes,

although I did end up leaving them in for a couple of days as thick red paint likes to stain the plastic

I never dilute it for the paint stripping step. But before the 'scrubbing off the gunk' step, I do 'dilute' it by washing the models under the tap first.

if doing this make sure to use washing up liquid as pure water can cause the paint to gunk up and begin sticking to the model in awkward places

Dettol isn't really that great... go with this stuff if you can

Less likely to melt your skin or give you cancer.
