Hello once again mates. After playing with my wood elves for a while I have decided to shelve them for a little bit to focus on another army that I have always wanted to do (probably until the new book comes out sad to say, they just need to get more competitive). A while back I started to build a Clan Skryre themed Skaven army but for some reason figured High Elves would be the better route to go (dont get me wrong the High Elves are good but after attending a tournament where out of the 16 players I think 5 or 6 were High Elves I decided it was time for a new army, hence my Wood Elves) and want to resurrect my sure to be invincible Skryre Skaven (unless the failure of my underlings proves otherwise ). This is a tentative attempt at re-doing this list so as usual all thoughts and Ideas are welcome, thanks again mates!

LORDS AND HEROES: 775pts.

-Ikit Claw

-Warlock Engineer #1
w/ Lvl. 1 Wizard, Warp Energy Condenser

-Warlock Engineer #2
*w/ Lvl. 1 Wizard, Doom Rocket

-Warlock Engineer #3
*w/ Lvl. 1 Wizard, Death Globe

-Chieftain BSB
*w/ Additional Hand Weapon, Warplock Pistol, Warpstone Armor, Shield

CORE: 1005pts.

-x30 Stormvermin (*With Ikit*)
w/ Full Command, Warpfire Thrower

-x25 Clanrats (*With Warlock Engineer #1*)
w/ Full Command, Hand Weapons and Shields, Ratling Gun

-x25 Clanrats (*With Warlock Engineer #2*)
w/ Full Command, Hand Weapons and Shields, Ratling Gun

-x25 Clanrats (*With Warlock Engineer #3*)
w/ Full Command, Hand Weapons and Shields, Warpfire Thrower

-x25 Clanrats (*With BSB*)
w/ Full Command, Hand Weapons and Shields, Warpfire Thrower

SPECIAL: (240pts.)

-x6 Warplock Jezzails

-x6 Warplock Jezzails

RARE: (480pts.)

-x2 Warplightning Cannon

-x2 Doomwheels

TOTAL ARMY: 2500 POINTS

L+H: With Ikit and 3 Level 1 Warlock Engineers (all with warp lighting) that should give me plenty of both magic defense and output against a wide variety of opponents especially with tons of warp lightning being thrown about. The BSB has a 3+ armor save and is strength 4 with a warplock pistol for the hell of it (had 8pts. to spare). And thanks to Verminous Valor i can refuse a challenge and still get all the BSB benefits.

CORE: 130 total infantry may be small for a Skaven army however the fact that they all have wonderful mix warpfire throwers and ratling guns (seriously a fething flame thrower and gattling gun in fantasy! ) should help even the odds if i ever come across armies that outnumber me or even have just plain better infantry. Each unit also has a hero/character leading it which should also help in the long run as each unit can dish out its own respectful amount of punishment each turn. also being run in ranks of 5x5 (6x5 with the stormvermin) will help with my leadership.

SPECIAL: 12 Warplock Jezzails to target elite units such as knights, elite infantry and warmachines. Two units of 6 enable flexibility and a decent enough amount of shots where a few should hit.

RARE: This explains itself for the most part. Two Doomwheels doing what they do best which is beating the ever living hell out of opponents with two Warp Lightning Cannons to back them up. I am also considering dropping the cannons for Plaugeclaw Catapaults but will keep it as it is for now.

With all the shooting, I think it would be beneficial to have a big unit of slaves. I think it might be better to swap one of the clanrats for a slave unit and swap the ratling guns for mortars. Spare points should go buff the remaining clans. 25 isnt a lot for rats

Couple thoughts:

1. You don't need both the AHW and the Pistol on your BSB. The Pistol counts as an AHW in CC. Saves you 4 points.

2. No Ward Save on the BSB? You can't claim the parry save from the shield as you're equipped with an AHW / Pistol. I'd drop the Shield (2 points I believe?) I'd also consider swapping the Warpstone armor for a Foul Pendant or Talisman of _______ ward save. You definitely want your BSB to be around as long as possible, and any opponent who has ever faced Skaven before knows not to challenge you and just direct attacks against him instead.

3. I think you'll find Jezzails are rather hit-or-miss (no pun intended). Mine either do very, very well (and destroy a bunch of chaos warriors) or do nothing at all (and fail to wound High Elves). That said, I love having Jezzails in my army.

4. WLC >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> PCC. Seriously, the thing is an absolute wrecking machine. If anything, I think you'll find Doomwheels a little lackluster. Sure, the Zzzaaap is nice, but really only matters if it hits multi-wound models. My WLCs are almost always my MVPs; my Doomwheels are almost always pointless. Which is sad as I own 2 and absolutely love the model, but there you have it. I guess they're not bad for War Machine hunting as long as you don't mind their speed being somewhat unreliable.

5. If you can find points somewhere, I'd beef the clan rats to 30 models each (before characters). At 2500 points, you'll be removing handfuls of models and you'll find that rank bonus drops pretty quickly.

6. Holy crap that is a buttload of shooting! Don't forget you can take a magic banner on Stormvermin. It's one of the 3 slots we get, and seeing as the BSB is more important alive than carrying an important banner, the 2 we can get in units become more important, even if it's just a flaming banner. (A little redundant here since you have 3.5 warpfire throwers!)
