So I have been meaning to get around to this for awhile, but never got pictures taken, which worked great because I never got around to making the models. While a bunch of people at the FLGS played an apoc game today, I decided to work on getting some models done.

So between last night and today, I got 40 legs and torsos assembled (no arms or heads yet) for 4/5 of my Cadian conscript squad. I will take some pics later. Then decided to start working on heavy weapon teams. Sad I am spending more time on stuff I will probably only play for apoc when I have so much stuff to finish for my regular everyday army. Since I seem to have the teams, I decided to work towards 12 heavy weapon teams to use in apoc. I need another squad box, and 4 more packs of bases and I will hit the number needed for apoc. For some reason though, 12 quads just doesn't seem like enough

And when I got sick of putting guard together, I decided to get my first Black Templar's assembled. I don't count the terminators I did a few months ago cause they are missing a shoulder pad Plus, they don't have anything unique to the BT about them. The first two guys are built using mostly bits from the BT upgrade sprue, and will be my "sergeants" (need to find something better fitting than that), but for in game purposes, are nothing special. I will be playing them mostly likely as if they just had a bolter instead of a bolt pistol/close combat weapon. Hopefully from here my army will go together at a faster pace.

I need to pick up a pin vice so I can drill the barrels. Also there is some molding lines and flash to still take care of. Also, I found out the camera I was using is perfect for taking pictures of models. Macro mode, no flash, with a 2 second timer, with the camera just sitting on the table, takes perfect pictures almost every time. And it shows pretty much the whole model in the pic! Time to start digging out models and the paint brushes

So I did some more work these last few days, although not a lot. I have finished assembling 2/3 of my terminators, just some finishing details. No real progress on anything else. I did start work on my land raider crusader, but primed interior pieces isn't very fun.

I did however come up with a name for my IG army finally. I really liked the show "Baa Baa Black Sheep" (also known as the Black Sheep Squadron). I love the F4U Corsair, so there is that part in the name, and the squadron was Marine Fighter Squad 214. I have to decide some things about naming, since I am going to be adding in aircraft at some point.

I also took some pics of some models I painted previously. None of them have any sort of highlighting, and I really need to paint the eyes. They all have a delvan mud wash, except the astropath, which I think is my best painted model to date.

Colonel Staken. I love the old model of this. I think he will be seeing some acetone though, I want to repaint him.

Officer of the Fleet. I actually spent a lot of time on painting this model. I feel it shows my current skill level the best, which is a huge improvement of where I started a year ago, using cheap walmart paint. Now I only use GW paint, but I am moving into PP paints.

Master of Ordnance. He really needs some touch ups, along with highlighting.

My astropath, which is my favorite model I have painted. It needs highlighting and shading on the robe. I like the pale face, and the black empty eye sockets. And yes I know, it needs some basing. It is the only model in my command squad without basing.

The plasma gunner for my command squad. Only one of the special weapons that is "done", so its the last painted picture. I just noticed I need to fix his basing. I need to find some better glue for it!

And finally, a quick pick of the worktop, lots of plastic!

Oh and I forgot to mention one thing. I almost started my room on fire when taking pics. I was using a heavy duty splitter to plug in the lights I set up for the photos. One of the plugs was shorted out somehow. Luckily nothing was destroyed, besides the splitter.

Holy long time since an update batman!

On the model side, I have done some more work. I have started a TK and Bret fantasy army. Lots of stuff to paint there! As for 40k, I have finished up most of my BT ground troops to the point where I can start painting. I need to do some weapon swaps and I will be a lot closer to being done with my second IG list. And with the annual APOC game coming up at the FLGS, I needed to add some super heavies! Please excuse the quality, didn't feel like pulling out a nice camera for taking some WIP pics.

Pic of one of my vendettas that my friend painted for me.

And lately, the FLGS has been expanding its terrain selection, and painting things that needed to be painted. The first hill is one of the modular ones GW sells, which I worked on with another guy. Here are some finished and WIP of the hill.

It is amazing what some spray paint, dry brushing, and flock can do. The steppe grass was GW. Some Army Builder tufts in there, and the light green flock is what the guy found at his house.

Next up is the Citadel Gaming Hill. It was painting following some of the directions and stuff from the Citadel Scenery Painting kit. Basecoat brown, "drybrush" (something I can't do well yet) orche, same green flock/static grass mix as the other hills, and some darker flock to change it up some. Pics are WIP. Going back tomorrow with some washes to finish up the rocky parts. Not made for a few hours of work. Static grass is still thick in some areas as I didn't remove excess since it was glue, dump it on, and get kicked out so the owner can go home.

Quick pic of what I have been working on:

That is a test mini for my new IG regiment (using Cadians) that I am calling the 214th Corsairs. It was my first time using grey primer, foundation paints, a wet palette, and painting eyes.

First off, I love wet palettes. I want to get a real one now as I have been using a PP blister pack for one and it gets cramped on there. Painting the eyes scared the living daylights out of me, took me 2 attempts just to get the wet on where I wanted it and not over the whole face. I am happy with how it came out for a first attempt. The skin unfortunately I don't like. It is Idrian Flesh from P3. Great tone that I like, just happens to match perfectly with the Calthan brown (which had I known, I could have saved 4 bucks today at the store). I will probably paint a few more with that color, along with some Midlund and Khardic Flesh to give the army some variety. Iydanden Darksun and Macharius Solar Orange make up the main colors. A few metallics and bleached bone and it is pretty much done. The orange was washed with delvan mud then I attempted to drybrush with solar orange and blazing orange. I think I will just wash them all and maybe a light drybrush for now. Someday I will attempt line highlighting.

The rest of his squad minus one guy have the orange on them. Trying out batch painting and so far it kept me sane through one color. The other 2 valkeryies are still at a buddies getting airbrushed. Finally looked at the first one and other than some minor things, It looks awesome.
