Okay, just putting this in off-topic because I know this is going to end badly.
Recently our local GW had a painting competition, Purchase, assemble and paint your models in two days. Just happily the citadel finecast release came out that day, so I decided to enter a model. What happened was a bit of a shock.
One of the more experience guys had entered Lugft Huron. Not the citadel finecast model, the FORGEWORLD model. Obviously, this was not purchased on the day and was not a retail games workshop model. A bit disappointed, I kept on with my painting, only to learn that it had been pre-assembled and undercoated prior to the day. Now, I felt a bit annoyed. I asked the organiser if that model could be taken out, Not because it wasn't good, I mean I even have lugft huron ordered meself. It was because it clearly violated the tenants of the competition.
The GW storeperson was quite upset with me, claiming I was nit-picking, Then told me I had no business trying to kick out anyone better than me. I feel quite sore about this, and I made my feelings known in a polite way, I essentially left the competition after the first day. I painted the model as well as I could on that day though.
The same guy nitpicked during a *fun* chariot race/lord fight by using a zombie dragon mounted vampire lord, with a casket of souls. Erm, when the others had normal chariots and normal lords....
Same guy manages to cram the table in apoc with a battle company and then ignores you when asked to resolve CC's.
I'm sorry, but if I tried I could match that, but I don't BECAUSE I know it's a annoying, and silly thing to do. Its not WAAC, it is being a jerk, and if repeated complaints don't do anything against that in a GW store, because the GW staff personally knows him, thats just being unprofessional.
What should I do?

Grab a hammer, smash Huron, the run away screaming "BLOOD FOR THE BLOOD GOD!"

Aye, maybe I'd not state it to them as hardcore as good ole Matty, but this is my general feeling as well, and certainly move on if possible, these guys aren't worth your time.
Sadly I've run foul of GW staffer buddy syndrome before.
Back in the early nineties, arranged with a local GW to have my games club take part in a Blood Bowl Tournament they where running as although the store was an hour away, they where allowing games at home to count. So our club with about eight folks playing posted results, this was back when the winners got to go to Games Day to take part in a comp. After about two thirds of the tournie me and a mate where doing well in our league, and where 3rd and 4th overall, not far behind the leaders. We get asked to come to do a round of games at the store, so although tricky we manage to get all eight of us there, take part against eight locals.
My opponent was making some odd moves, which I as a younger player didn't call him up on, didn't realise it was wrong till after i was home typically. Another friend had an opponent who used three sets of dice for the various moves, and when my mate realised he had forgotten his dice and asked to borrow some, the opponent got hostile, and he needed to come and borrow some of me. Found out later on the way home of some other wierd calls, rolls not counting and needing rerolling as there where 'cocked' when not etc the other players where also suffering.
Out of our eight players only two of us won, and when I rang back up next day to raise the issue with the dice and some moves that where wrong, where told by the GW manager we had been kicked out of the league as the fact we lost meant we must be cheating our results.
Out of the eight players, five quite the hobby never to return as they where that ticked off by the way they treated us. So sadly, aye this isn't new behaviour as far as I'm concerned, one of the reasons I don't play at GW stores.

The neck on all these fething people!
I dont think its that hard to be "good" at 40k as there aren't that many rules, I think you just have to be a necky bastard and not mind looking like a total prick!
Seriously how can you turn up for the OPs contest above with an already assembled and sprayed model and think you can even take part?!

Heh, reminds me of a painting contest many many years back in a GW's first incarnation back up in Scotland. Was a single model contest and from all the entries every customer in the store said it came down to two models, happily one was mine but was expecting the other guys to nudge ahead and win.
The staff decided neither of those were the best painted and chose a poorly painted high elf character on mount model as it was the most expensive .
Do't get me started on the squad one they held. Needless to say neither myself or a few other people bothered after that.

Thing is, most of these GW kids are no different to any local games group organisers, they've got their mates and their social structures, and any rules are interpreted through those. You would think that paying these people would make them more objective, but if anything it makes the problem worse, they become more of an authority, and less likely to consider their decisions properly.
As to what to do, umm, I don't know. I gave up playing in GW stores very early on, not because of the store managers but because of all those damn kids everywhere.

What should I do?
Here are several options.
1. Get an axe. Make sure you have access to at least four pigs, personal transport and a water proof tarp. You'll know what to do.
2. Get a job. Make sure its really sould crushing. Welcome to the rest of your life.
3. Mellow out. Quit hanging out at GW stores. Get a car. Get a girlfriend. Of course this typically leads to #2 above, so its a no win either way.

Dear OP, the store is run by biased petty individuals that seems to only care about each other. I dont think reasoning with them will help you ( even if you are absolutely correct )
What i would do is i guess, write a letter to GW head quarter,
note down the event name , date , and the manager that was responsible.
And see what happens :'/

Good advice. If people don't respond to your complaints, go over their head. GW can't get better without people telling them about things like this.

I played one game in a GW store and that was enough for me:
Come along with your squad of SM that the staff have helped you to learn to paint and all your youthful enthusiasm at age ten and play in a game at your local store where fig, fat, sweaty blokes will turn up with squads of Swooping Hawks, laser most of your marines to bits and then fly off and perch on a piece of terrain out of your reach...and then in turn two you can either move somewhere on the table and have them kill the rest of your squad afterwards or just sit there on the spot and have them kill the rest of your squad...welcome to the greatest hobby on earth!

Simples.
Have a word with his manager about his attitude. See, no internet hardmen type activity required. Just a simple 'hey man, I'm afraid I find his customer service somewhat lacking'.
Or you can ignore it and watch the problem continue.

Just thought I would add my 2 cents. I think the OP is already onto this...
When making complaints be respectful, polite, and concise. This will come across better than "Fething blah blah, WAAC, blah blah." Your points can get muddled up if emotions affect your point negatively and will likely not get resolved. Negative attitudes can lead the other party to think you may be a whiner, or a sore loser and just venting.
OP
I think you have grounds to write a letter, favoritism can cause customers to leave to greener pastures. A store near me recently closed down due to similiar behavior ruining their reputation. We had 6 stores within 45 minutes to 1 hour from me, now 5 stores remain. If the situation is not resolved make it known to GW and the store manager you are shopping / playing elsewhere if you have the option. I realize some communities are not as lucky as mine with so many choices.

I work in insurance, where you have to sort fact from opinion on a daily basis. That you found his customer service somewhat lacking, is a fact. Stick with this.
The other bits, the more emotional stuff about his style of gaming perhaps not meshing with yours, is I'm afraid largely opinion.
