I’m trying to expand my army to 1500pts, here’s my list idea so far…
Warboss with warbike, power klaw and cybork body. 135
Big Mek with Kustom force field. 85
7x Lootas 105
7x Lootas 105
30x Ork Boyz with sluggas including nob with bosspole and power klaw 220
30x Ork Boyz with shootas including nob with power klaw and bosspole 220
30x Ork Boyz with shootas including nob with power klaw and bosspole 220
14x gretchin and a runtherd 52
1x Deffkopta with twin linked rokkits and Buzzsaw 70
9x Stormboyz including nob with power klaw and bosspole 148
5x Warbikers including nob with power klaw and bosspole 165
I would like some final tweaking of the list (I definitely want to keep the three boyz mobz, the lootas, the big mek and either the stormboyz or the bikerz) And I’d rather not have any vehicles if at all possible. Thanks!

You want some big shootas for the foot guys. Having them affect the battle before turn 3 is a good thing.
The stormboyz seem out of place here. They are pretty fragile, so you either want a really big squad of them, or Zagstruck. (or both, I guess).
It seems like a no-brainer to have at least a minimum squad of nob bikers somewhere in there. They are much scarier than the regular bikers, and can be taken as troops for more scoring possibility.

Sounds like you're going for a Green tide then. I'd leave the Warbikes out and keep the Stormboys as shock troops, or if you're confident in using cover, use the bikes for the same, but with a green tide you want mainly boys...

If you wanna go a green tide, you probably don't want a biker boss (Though I'll admit it's my favourite unit in all of 40k)
If you do keep the boss, give him an attack squig, it's essentially a second power klaw.
Personally I'd say drop the bikers and the boss, pump up the storm boys, and invest in either:
A. A footslogging boss to give your boys some bite
B. A second KFF, a good rule in 40k is if something is good enough to take once, it's good enough to take again.
C. A warphead, they tend to shine in the green tide
Also, why does one of the mobs have sluggas instead of shootas? Your other mobs have shootas, and overall it's a good list, so I figure you have a reason.

The boss could skulk in a boyz unit, to zoom out and smash a tank when he gets near enough. I don't really want to drop him cos he's my only real defence against landraiders...
Also I was planning on running with the boyz, so big shootas would slow them up.

I would probably drop the stormboyz, and take another pair of deffkoptas with buzzsaws to destroy any tanks with templates, which eat green tides.

Really? Three buzzsaw deffkoptas doesn't seem like a lot for 210pts, I could get an entire ork mob for that! Do they really work that well in numbers?

Well, 3 deffcopters can take out 3 tanks in one turn theoretically. Very nasty vs leman russes. Unless it is a KP mission, take them in 3 squads of 1.

lootas in groups of 15 or 5 only
i sometimes break this if i have points to spend and might boost to 6 or 7 but never enter with those numebrs in mind. they have terrible leadership and if they kill ven 2 at 7 that is forcing a check. chances are at thier terrible leadership of 7 you run away. at 15 due to mob rule they stck around till abotu half strength (ie around 7-8) when thier leadership starts to get terrible again

My advice is to trim the Lootas to 3 squads of 5, and then boost the stormboys... As Digi said, 8 will quite likely run after a couple are killed...... You want probably 15+ to be effective...

lol you're really attatched to those storm boyz. imagine this 9 boyz walk out onto the field without a nob. 5 space marines say What the? no more boyz. Same think happens to small groups of storm boyz. I would just drop them all together or make them a force to be feared. My advice drop them. Suicide Koptas are awsome. Keep them in reserve, out flank, destroy a tank. I run 3 one model unit and irritate the heck out of every one. Expecialy Black Templars who now have to direct all of there fire at one Kopta because its the closest model. Or IG who line all of there artillery againts there table edge. Easy pickins. When the army list allows I prefer 3 units of 2 or 3.

I must admit I am attached to stormboyz, I have had so much success in lower games by keeping them hidden behind my large mobz or terrain, and engaging weak units and tanks with their incredible charge range. I really can understand three deffkoptas when playing against guard or SM, but what if I fought against ork kan walls, daemons or landraiders. Also, killpoint missions are a worry!

I understand the attachment. I only have 5 stormboyz but in the VERY few games I've used them in, they have always caused some hassle for my opponent and are a nice way to contest an objective, end game. All I gotta say is, if you wanna put them in, put them in. Make the list being competitive a lower priority than making it the way you want it.

I still think they are competitive, not for points per model, but the extra dynamic of speed they add to an ork infantry horde, so I see them as paying a premium for a rare ability...
no one ever agrees with me about this though

I love stormboyz, but to be effective, you've gotta max them. 15-20 with zagstrukk is how it's gotta go. Use the points from the 4 lootas, and maybe scrounge up some more somewhere.
