Hi everyone,
I currently play Empire, Vampire counts, Space orks, Chaos space marines+ Chaos daemons, and I am tempted to get Imperial Guard as my last army. Should I get a IG and if so, what should I have ??

What kind of amry do you want to get?
IG can be many things...
Mech vets
Airborne vets
Gunline
Armoured regiment
Artillery regiment (Similar to gunline)

Bit of everything- defo cadians for paint scheme though

I can't begin to think of a list for that...
At a guess:
CCS
1/2 Platoon/s
2 Veteran squads in chimeras
1 Veteran squad in a Valkyrie
A squadron of 2 leman russ tanks (You choice what variant)
A suadron of 2 Hydras
A squadron of 2 artillery pieces of your choice.

You can choose what they are equipped with...
At the very minimum of choices with no additional extras that comes out to 1200.

The list is pretty unfocused however... you could build better lists with ease...

Start with a couple of boxes of cadians and 6 plasma or melta gun bitz. No matter what you do after that, you're pretty likely to still use those original models.

Vendettas, chimeras, and Russes!

Hi guys- does this sound like a good starting army:
-Codex for IG
-1 company command with company commander, medic, banner, vox caster and plasma gun (Company commander equip decide when I get kit)
-Two battalions which would give me:
-2 platoon commands, with platoon commander with Power sword and bolt pistol, banner, medic, vox caster and Grenade launcher
-4 guardsmen squads with vox casters and grenade launchers
-two heavy weapon teams of 3-don't know which heavy weapons to get
-2 scout sentinels with a weapons-again, don't know which one yet
-also get a commissar, who will go in whatever unit I see fit
-Leman russ battle tank, with lascannon and heavy bolter sponsons
Get a few paints as well in order to paint cadian scheme-price comes to about £170-(most of it bought off of darksphere, commissar+ paints bought from GW)
This army look good I think because it has a good mix of heavy stuff+ infantry-also command structure is quite good in this army.
What do you think ?

You should read up on the tactics articles here and some of the stuff in the Tactics Forum and the Army List Forum.

Also, you don't need to sign your posts...

Don't put to much on your platoon command squads they are there for orders not much more and i would suggest las cannons or rocket launchers for heavy weapons for the fire power
also avoid leman russ squads because if the are immobile they count as wrecked and thats like 200 points gone.

Yeah, having lascannons sounds good, but I also want something for infantry killing-either mortars of heavy bolters-i'm not sure-I know missile launchers are quite good, but I don't really like them that much.

Yes you should! But what should you have? Whatever you find is the most fun.

Do you like huge masses of infantry firing their weapons at the enemy? Do you like the idea of a more elite force riding in their vehicles at the head of an armored assault? Do you want to sit back and lob artillery at your enemy? Etc etc etc.

You must get a commissar, they are rly cool. Perhaps the new citadel finecast Commisar model? that would be awsome tho!

I don't think so, because I have never, ever, ever, ever seen a list that has a CCS with Nork and a Commissar in it. Hell, I haven't ever seen a list with either of them in a CCS.

To coastgaurd- We were playing an apocalypse game, 8000 points of Orks+Necrons vs 8000p of space marines and guardsman, and my we all saw the commissar execute a psyker the turn before he excuted the commander, the commisar then beaten to death by Nork. We Laughed so much !!!!
