I'm looking into getting some Ancients (Early/late Imperial Romans and their associated enemies) armies from Baccus 6mm. I'm also looking for a ruleset to use them with. The multitude of options is paralyzing, especially since I see people defending all the options, without a clear winner.

That said, I've seen some people suggest Warmaster Ancients. Can anyone either steer me towards or away from the system?

And if it's a good buy, where can I find the book? So far, I've seen prices on Ebay as high as $80!

I have not played Warmaster Ancients yet, but have read a lot of reviews that like the system. I am in the process of buying a crusader and arab army (plus castle) in 10mm for the game.

Newer games like Hail Caesar! and Black Powder, both by Warlord Games, are direct descendents of Warmaster Ancients.

I recently purchased all of the books from FRPGames. They seem to still have them in stock. The books, if I understand correctly, are out of print, since Forgeworld took over the Warhammer Ancients lines.

Warmaster Ancients rules updates were printed in Warmaster Ancient Armies (includes campaign rules), and Warmaster Medieval Armies (includes siege rules). The main rulebook updates might still be available online.

Let me know if you have any other questions.
