I've never really played an ork spead freak army before but is the army they preview in the Codex any good?

It's ok, but playing speed freeks you really have to have Red Paint Jobs, if only for the fluffs sake. Personally, i'd add a reinforced ram to each of the trukks, give the boss a PK, bosspole, bike and attack squig and chuck him in with the biker nobs, and give the big mek a burna.
You should be able to do all that by dropping one biker squad.

Oh, and definitely put nobs with PK/bosspole in all your slugga boy squads. Because you don't have as many boys as a green tide, you need a way to make sure every squad is a threat, PKs do that. Because your squads are so small, a bosspole is generally a good investment too

It would be fun to play but not really a game winning. Ork spped freak armies always suffer from the same things.
1. Trucks die in droves to almost every weapon in the game and dont really carry enought boyz to get the job done.
2. No real fast moving AT option other then deffkopters but they suck an awful lot of points in full tank hunting spec.
3. And put simply far to low a model count if you take the fun stuff like bikes.

Damn I cant wait to the GW legal team codex comes out now there is a dex that will conquer all. |

No seriously, Speed Freaks are crippled by autocannons, so don't expect much success against the Psifleman heavy GK builds.
I would take a Battlewagon at least for some ability to deliver numbers to the enemy. Possibly with Burnas inside instead of boyz for the 15 HIT BURNING COMBO. Deffrollas etc as standard, your list lacks much anti-tank. Why are there rokkits in trukk mobz before PKs? Why is there only 1 PK in the Nob Bikers? Why are the nob bikers so undersized?
The problem with speed freaks is that the list has special requirements to work effectively and everyone's familiar with the hard counters for the build, it used to be a heavy hitter but now only lists that are unbalanced will have trouble against it.
Note: Warbikers are terrible for what you pay, not the worst in the 'dex but if you do put the points into using them at least max the unit out, if you really want speed freaks convert a Wazdakka.

Also littlenibbler Orks aren't about armour saves.
Orks are about having too many models on the table, and wasting the other guy's time with your movement phase.
Orks are about having the toughest units on the table.
Orks are about not caring about how many bodies are left in a long winding trail until the squad is down to less than a third its starting strength.
Orks are about rolling more dice then you can count without the aid of a calculator or a pen and paper.
Orks are about having totally fething insane characters tearing gak down like Doc Grotsnik, Ghazghkull or Snikrot.
Orks are about being too fething awesome to die...
