New 54mm scale Sci Fi miniature from Andrea: GABRIEL BLACKBURN, SERPENTIA COMMANDO from their new Dark Nova range.
Enjoy!
Definately on my painting wish-list!
And new from Studio McVey, another limited edition Lt Kara (the basis for Cpt Kara from Sedition Wars) in resin:
Again, enjoy!

I generally like Lt Kara, but she's got a bad case of "Man Arms".

Lt Kara has a very awkward pose. Double crossed arms feels bad.

The Imperium of Man is able to traverse the Warp with difficulty when their Emperor concentrates from his golden life support machine and lights the way. Unfortunately, because the Emperor has the attention span of the average 5-year-old Pokemon fanboy, this means that many an unfortunate Imperial ship has had the WTF WHERE'D THE LIGHTS GO experience, which in the Warp is invariably fatal. |

The 54 mm dude is nice. A bit plain on the armor but well posed.
BTW, anyone knows what the hell is that SAS dude doing? Is he dancing? Looking for a toilet?

The 'lieutenant Kara' is significantly better posed than that infinity model. Kara is a very nice model indeed. If the SAS guy could speak he would say 'Haters gonna hate CQC'.

Actually, that is a very good still pose of a well train special forces operator. That would be a creeping/stalking movement.

Sir you are a hero! full stop.....I was so tempted to respond, but I thought, if this guy can't see what the stance and pose is about, theres no way I'm gonna convince him that the model is on point.

Totally disagree, her stance is biased to the back foot far too much to be able to deploy that blade in the way she's holding it. The model is sculpted in such a way that she isn't able to sight down the firearm, and she'd be firing across from her bodies centre-line, as a reactive shot, not a problem...as an aimed shot, pretty pointless.
The Infinity miniature is clearly based on a military pose, someone "modelled" for that miniature or the sculptor based the miniature on real military operator photos....the sculpt screams this....where as the Studio McVey miniature is based on a purely "fantasy" or Holywood movie type stance....it's not crap, but not in the same league.

Superb miniatures there!
Since people are debating the pose of kara just wanted to add the comment from the sculptor of that mini ( hasslefree miniatures fella) concerning the pose and how it was assembled:
Looks like Mike got the posing wrong when he put her together. Her weight is supposed to be mostly on the front foot.
That makes a huge difference on the balance of the miniature

Unless her pistol arm is not fixed to the torso, that would improve the blade aspect, but her pistol would be pointed at the ground....anyway, I've ordered one of those minis, when it arrives I'll have a play, maybe do a little review

Fixture of Dakka

That makes a lot more sense then. If she is rotated a bit so as to be more on the front foot it probably looks like she is peering around a corner perhaps, her pistol at low ready to shoot if needed. That would explain why she isn't sighting down the forearm: she is just poking her head and arm out a bit to look around.
Figures too, since the wound and torn clothing implies she is probably done looking for trouble this day!

Hmm I would say the kara minaiture has more 'humanity' to it. The lines in the pistol arm and knife are beautifully done and convey a tight focused grip. Also the flow from shoulder to hip is FAR more natural. The SAS guy looks like he is doing some sort of bizarre dance move, emphasized by the near concave aspect of his leading leg. If he is double jointed fair enough, but... The 'core' of the CB mini is also too large by about 10% adding a shortness and weakness to the arms. Not to mention his 'haters gonna hate' strut.
Finally, sorry to destroy your military machismo dillusion but holding the wrist at a tilt like the, perfectly horizontal, CB mini would put you in cramp pretty damn fast, Real life doesn't have MW2's 'tactical knife attachment' delephont. Kara has her knife at a far more maintanable position, far tighter to her core and wrist slanted in a natural resting point.

Uh, I've seen actual soldiers advance using the steady/stealth stance. It looks pretty funny sometimes, but never that funny. And the fact that he's in mid stride only reinforces the wacky posing.

I think the mini-gun dude is BA. Takes me back to Predator and Jessie Ventura.
Lt. Kara actually looks like she is back pedalling.
The SAS dude is sweet.

Tht does make sense.
Must say that I still don't mind the pose as it has been portrayed,
Kara looks like she has been advancing but suddenly attacked from above.
I see what you mean about the leg being concave Perkustin. I would like to see it from another angle though as he has all that padding etc on his kegs.
That maybe distorting the look of the leg.
Or he may be bow legged due to rickets.

I agree, SickSix, I saw her as backpedalling, and a bit panicked; hence the sloppy arm positioning.
Really liking this, she might see service as a veteran sergeant in my IG army.

Some people simply have no idea how to communicate..... , well, I bow down to your years of military service....not to mention your knowledge of human anatomy and sculpting. Personally, I have only had around 15 years of knife training through the various martial arts that I partake in three times a week, 3 hours per session, not to consider my "out of session sparring"..(Kali Eskrima, Ba Gua, Xin-Yi and Tai Chi) and so was under the dillusion that I could spot how effective a knife stance would be....all that time wasted....
