i fought my first zulu wars battle last night with two of my mates playing as the british . i played the zulus ! we used the very wonderful black powder rules written by the famous rick preistly . the britishs objective was to rescue the remnants of british soldiers who had surived their original armies demise at the hand of the attacking zulu horde . they had holed up in a vacant boar farm house . the brits had a gataling gun and a 7 pound cannon to boot as well as some units of the famous 80th foot ! so quicly the brits were off to the rescue . the zulus charged in trying to flank the brits with the left and right horns . sneaky skirmishers had sneaken in the night before and lie and waited for the brave rescuers to come . and they did, and the zulus sprang foward eager to wash their spears with blood . through valor and bravery the brits fought valintly and were able to hold off the hoards of natives . the last thing the brits did was set the farm house on fire and retired with the men they were sent to rescue . great game ! lots of laughs playing black powder is always a great time . i really suggest any one interested in the hoarse and musket period to give it a try enjoy the pics !

Looks pretty awesome, cool to see lesser used war periods on this site. I agree the WGF stuff is only good to an extent to bulk out numbers. Warlord should provide some better minis I hope

I've only recently started flames of war, and only started this forum recently, and to see ranges of historic miniatures like these is really cool! Being a brit myself the Zulus and the likes seem a good gaming opportunity. maybe when i've done a couple of flames of war miniatures i'll have to surf about. Great paint work and looks a lot of fun!

Great looking battlefield and minis

The Zulu wars will defiantly be seeing an increase in popularity this year with the combined Warlord and Empress range on its way. Warlords web site also mentions plastic Natal native contingent as well. Which could be a useful set for making all kinds of European adventures and explorers for Darkest Africa Skirmish games.
