So I am home, back from Korea to Canada, and entering my first tourney in years.
Due to an oversight by the TO, there was no signup sheet and many people got angry. Didn't show up. So for a max. of 16 people...we get 4!!!
Player 1: Space Marines
Player 2: Space Marines
Player 3: Blood Angels
Player 4: Me, Tyranids
Wow, I win the meta battle.
My list: (1500)
HQ: Tervigon (Adrenal, Toxin, Catalyst)
Elites: 2x2 Hive Guard
Troops: 8 Genestealers (7+ Broodlord), Toxin
8 Genetsealers, Toxin
10 Termagants
10 Termagants
Tervigon (Adrenal, Toxin, Catalyst)
Tervigon (Adrenal, Toxin, Catalyst)
Fast Attack: 3 Raveners, Rending
11 Gargoyles
Game 1: vs PLayer 1, Marines
We rolled pitched battle, capture aND CONTROL.
In short, I was taking out his vehicles 1 by 1 and advancing on him. Time got called after 3 rounds and it was a draw. The judge ruled on secondary points and I got the win. I actually felt bad about it, as it was not announced that tiebreakers would be used. My opponent focused his fire on my Tervigons but failed to kill any of them.
Game 2: vs Player 2, Marines
This one was a Dawn of War, Killpoints
His army was nearly identical to Player 1's, but a hugely different scenario. My genestealers came up on him and attacked his command squad, trading themselves for the squad, but his captain lived.
I spawned gants and took down his Rhinos and a Predator. As I expected to be called on time again, I focused my Hive Guard on easy targets, such as his speeders. It worked. We were called on time and I won, 6-2.
Game 3: vs Player 3, Blood Angels
Final game was objectives, Dawn of War.
I infiltrated my stealers and spawned mass gants on the objectives near my side. My opponent had devestators and a tactical squad on a hill, as well as a gunship holding some nasty Blood Angels and a Dreadnought.
I advanced and fired, taking out a vehicle or two and knocking 2 weapons off of his gunship. True to form for the whole tourney, it got called on time after 4 rounds. My opponent had the hammer and used it to move his gunship up to my lines, contesting the 5th objective. It ended 2-2 on objectives. Tiebreakers? Him. He had wounded all my Tervigons half, so got half points. My gargoyles and raveners were down. I took down minimal things.
Result: I got 11 total points, and Player 1 got 12. I got 2nd. He had 1 more point than me because he had a fully painted army.
Thoughts: Well after I felt bad about being given an undeserved win in the 1st round, I guess if anyone had to win other than me, might as well be him.
If time had not been called on any of my games, I predict my record to have been 3-0 or 2-0-1. The 2nd game was a clear easy victory. The first game was up in the air. The 3rd gane, I think I would have beaten him, as I was about to knock him off my 3rd objective.
