Oh yeah.
Oh well, better than nothing. Should be nice to see what happened to Mason regardless.

Alls I know is this is the first time THQ/SyFy are collaborating on something like this--and both are coming away pretty happy so far.

I think it's a movie that's also the pilot for a show.

Nothing good has come from Sci-fi since they changed their name to "Syfy". =|

Absolutely nothing, whatsoever, suggests that. From Craig Engler, the guy in charge of SyFy's twitter feed, to Brian J. Smith who's starring in it have simply said it's a movie.

Other than the remade Being Human, Warehouse 13, Eureka, Haven, etc?

Yeah. Nothing good...

Remade Being Human?
That, for starters, is a blemish on the original.
Warehouse 13 I didn't like (just seemed like a worse version of Eureka). Eureka went downhill after the change to Syfy (plus it was on a different channel over here). Never watched Haven.

The original isn't as good as you're making it out to be. Nowhere at all near it.

Pretty much the only good scifi to come out of the UK these days is Doctor Who. Primeval's a joke, Torchwood's a bore, and Being Human is TwiLite.

Warehouse 13 I didn't like (just seemed like a worse version of Eureka). Eureka went downhill after the change to Syfy (plus it was on a different channel over here). Never watched Haven.

Eureka has had some rough patches, no doubt. The reasons behind it are pretty big though--directorial shakeups, people leaving the show, et al. They've ironed everything out though and are trying to get back on track.

Guerrilla certainly was no more dull than any other 3PS out there.

I find most movies in general dull. At least RF:G had the interactive aspect to keep it interesting. Movies don't. They're by default inferior to games to me, and have to work past this just to be start being interesting, nevermind good.

Thats partially my point, having the frankly subpar stories found in the vast majority of games in a movie is likely to bore me.

There were a few articles on GameInformer.com a while back that mentioned a TV series being possible if the movie did well.

Nerd. Actually I agree, there's a lot of boring movies and tv out there. It's just boilerplate. At least with video game boilerplate I get to shoot stuff in the face.

The movie and the game both have to do well.

And I highly doubt either one will do well enough for THQ to pony up the cash for a full TV series especially one that would end up being essentially killing one of their major franchises. Because no matter what, the TV show would have to come after the game and any further games would have to be built around that series, etc.

Apparently Armeggedon was meh, but correct me if I'm wrong but I thought the movie was set between Guerilla and Armaggedon?

It's set at some point during the timeframe between Red Faction: Guerilla and the upcoming Red Faction: Armageddon.

There's a demo available for Armageddon and it's really not that bad. If I hadn't blown my 'happyfuntime' cash for the next few months on a Cygnar starter set, I'd be buying it.

The demo for Armageddon was actually really fun, i was all set to hate it from hearing others view on it.
I don't know what anyone is complaining about to be honest... my friends hated it for some reason.

People probably hate Armageddon because it made the series linear again, while Guerilla was a fairly awesome sandbox game.

It's pretty hard to have a horror game set in a sandbox atmosphere, though. Alan Wake was set to be, and they basically scrapped that idea.

Pain is an illusion of the senses, Despair an illusion of the mind.

In your base, ignoring your logic.

I liked Guerilla for the sandbox aspect and I loved the physics included. But for some reason there's nothing as satisfying as digging a mile long hole in the side of a mountain for the hell of it.

That and the 'drill of terror' was fun for the brief amount of time you used it.

I would prefer Red Faction's story over Guerilla's though.
