Yeah, but if the Imperium lasts till then...well yeah.

Chances are by then the Imperium and all of humanity would have collapsed and gone extinct.

I have no intention of doing that anytime soon, so I think we're good to go.

how this was accomplished isn't disclosed, something involving Warp Energy I think.

It doesn't have to be so... Stars die because they run out of Helium. Maybe Imperium will find some was to distribute Helium to the Sun in a regular basis so our star will last longer...
And why do you think that imperium will colapse even if GW advance timeline?

If the Sun were to explode and destroy Terra, I am sure the Ultramarines would come in and protect it with their massive amount of plot armor. They have more than enough to go around.

If the sun were to explode, there'd have to be something wrong with the astronomer's texts ( IIRC, G class stars don't go nova, they go supergiant. This stage would encompass the inner worlds (Mercury, Venus, indubitably Terra) and possibly Mars as well but it is WELL into the future, several billion years, even in the 41st millennium.

So no 'splosion, but the expansion will still kill Terra.
I'd imagine that any native left in the vicinity would not necessarily be recognisable as human by our standards.

You do know about the end of our universe theories?

1. All stars will die out and there would be nothing left but dark, cold planets wondering around.
2. The universe will start to shrink back and implode again.
3. The universe will stretch too much and it will result in exploding ( like baloon when you pump it with to much air ).

Truly grimdark.....
