Subject: Death Korps of Krieg questions...

Alright so I am toying around with an idea in my head for a D.K.O.K successor chapter so to speak, I will be using slightly converted Cadians but I have a few questions;
1. Is this plausible or are there rules against something like this?
2. What rules would I use if I do create this "chapter"?
3. Can I use the standard color scheme?
4. Can I mix in some Korps models into my army and have it still be legal?
Thank you in advance for any help you can give me. If I have any other questions I will post them in this thread. Thank you again.

You could just have another world with similer training and recruitment techniques.
and its Regiment, not Chapter.
Chapter is for Space marines, not Imperial Guard.
the FW models are just alternatives to the standard GW models. they do have their own FW rules, but they can also be used with the IG codex.

It's fine, many worlds field Siege Regiments, the DKoK are just famous for theirs.
2. What rules would I use if I do create this "chapter"?
Regiment. IG don't have Chapters, that's for silly Space Marines. As for rules, you can use either the IG codex or Forgeworlds Siege Regiment list http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/Downloads/Product/PDF/k/kreig.pdf
3. Can I use the standard color scheme?
use whatever colors you want.
4. Can I mix in some Korps models into my army and have it still be legal?
There are no rules anywhere on which models you must use. Feel free to mix and match, though it may look a bit goofy potentially.

Dammit, I wish the IG codex let us field earthshaker cannons for 75 points.

Immobile Earthshaker cannons.
not a huge downside, but sometimes you want to ram things.

Not just immobile, but "artillery" unit type with lower frontal AV. This means that any glancing or penetrating hit destroys it.

Screw that, I wish IG would let us take WS4 Stubborn Powerfist Blobs. Nasty stuff, that is.

True, although it is unfortunate that in the new Krieg list commissars don't really have a place.

WS4 over 3 doesn't mean too much other than getting hit back, for which you've generally got plenty of expendable bodies.

Extra powerfists, I guess. Still, 4 hidden, stubborn powerfists is not a fun fight.

They aren't exactly cheap units though, 75pts each for an S6 powerfist with some ablative wounds isn't a stupendous buy.

Hmm, well, for 15 points over the regular guardsmen, you get WS4, die hards, iron discipline, a powerfist, and the options to take CCW+Pistol and/or a standard.
A commissar with a power weapon is 45 points. If you assume 30-man blobs, if the DKoK leave their commissar behind the units cost the same. Except you give up 4 power weapons in exchange for 3 power fists and all those other bonuses.

Guard models are guard models, use whatever regiment models you want since nobody except people who are just jerks will give you a hard time. I know a guy who has a squad of infantry from every diferent guard regiment line the GW and FW have done painted in a unifying scheme, and it looks kick ass.
Also use the guard codex, after using the siege regiment once or twice, you'll be so sick of the lack of unit combos (yes they have decent power blobs and extra fragile but cheap artilerry) but that is it. You'll be throwin that PDF in the bin when you want to field things like manticores, chimeras, vendettas and most importantly VETERANS!!!
I'd suggest just saying that it's a combined regiment of world XXX and YYY, they don't need to be Cadian or Krieg, but a world that you find suitable for your army. Painting them so that they have a unified scheme helps too, although that's not necessary either.

I don't know why you wouldn't still take the commissar in the Krieg list. Going to Ld9 and the rerolls is still worth it for the investment even if they already have stubborn.
totally didn't realize however that DKoK infantry squads could take CCW+Pistol...that's interesting...
Still it's decent, but still not ultra amazing for the points methinks. At least to my mind.

I think guard squads should be able to buy maybe trench shovels or some such CCW and pistols! That'd be pretty cool and they are still guardsmen so no big threat tbh. Yes a 30 man, 2 attacks each, squad would be mean but I doubt it'd be super broken in all reallity. Automatically Appended Next Post: And to keep on topic I use FW kriege models, play "kriege" but out of the IG codex. Its honestly up to you! There are no rules that say you can't do that and GW actually encourages "counts as" stuff so as long as your opponent knows what things are its all gravey!
