A lot of controversy surrounds Nob Bikers. It would seem that they're either thought of as:

A. An overly expensive death star that can only face-roll bad armies and are too easily killed to be worth it or...
B. A versatile and efficient addition to any army when taken in smaller groups around 5 to 7 with a Warboss (all diversified equipment with Painboy, banner, PKs, etc.), just so long as you only have one group of them and don't make an entire army out of them exclusively.

I've decided to subscribe to thought B. but instead roll them in a group of 9 (including a warboss). This would allow more to survive the concentrated enemy fire power, and only have to take LD after 3 die (assuming they're at full strength). They would (obviously) be more effective in both shooting and assaulting. The problem being that with a warboss, it's around a 500 point investment (if you take cybork, PKs, a Painboy, Big Choppas, etc.). If you're already spending around 400, wouldn't it be worth it to go the extra mile to make them as killy as possible?

The questions being, should they be run in groups of 5, 7, or 9? Is Cybork worth it? How would you run them?

The larger the better. But this is not always true. A large group can be overkill. I ran a full squad at an RTT and it rolled over the enemies. Therefore, I'm inclined to run a smaller unit of 7 or so.
The new Grey Knights are a tough nut to crack with Nob Bikers.

Im personally in the too pricey crowd. Im sorry but a free missile launcher taking out 50+ points worth of model? No thanks. Yes they are tough and yes they can kick alot of ass, but you throw them against someone that knows how to counter them, and your stuck with a HUGE gapping whole in your army that will usualy be to big to cover

Nob biker lists are not a good army choice against seasoned opponents anymore.

If you were to add nob bikers, they must be added in along with a balanced attack.

I liked to run 2 5 man Nob biker squads along with 2 Battlewagons, a biker warboss, and a Trukk at 1850. it still gave me points to add in Lootas, Deffkoptas, and a Big Mek with KFF, and forced my opponent to choose a target wisely or else get his more vulnerable units jacked by the nob bikers.
