I have a large bundle of Imperial Guard, but, since it was my first army, most of it is just what I thought was "kewl". So, can someone help me create a useable 1500 point list out of this mess of units? I'm happy to swap unit upgrades between squads and blob when necessary.

No, though I could get some

At 1500 points, you will have to pick a theme and stick with it.

If you go mech, you will need more transports.

If you go foot, you will need more bodies.

Your heavy support right now is okay. You may need Hydras, but you have enough versatility to keep opponents guessing as to what they should hit first.

With what you got at 1500 points, use the following:

LRBT, Lascannon- 165 points
LR Demonisher, Lascannon- 180 points
Basilisk- 125 points

I would eliminate the Lascannon mounts to heavy bolters to save points, but I assume they cannot be snapped off?

If you cannot get more transports readily, divide your Heavy Weapon Squads into the Infantry Squads so you can spread your model could out more.

For instance:

Infantry Squad, HWS Autocannon, 60 points.

That is nine models right there and gives you the ability to spread 40 models amongst more Infantry squads.

If you cannot get the transports, use these models as a gunline, taking positions in ruins and using Infantry squads without HWS as bubble wrap.

Make every model you have carrying a lasgun a potential guardsmen if you cannot get the additonal models to make what you want happen.

Looking better.

I would remove the transport utterly as there is no need for it if it is your only transport.

Try and make a second infantry platoon if you can.

More troops, more heavy weapon squads! You will need all the firepower you can muster to take down opponents before they reach you.

If you want to be sneaky or different, add in some Sentinels to add distracting, scouting vehicles for an opponent to deal with.

Or grab Al'Rahem to make half your infantry outflank. Such a maneuver is used to give your relatively static army some mobility, especially late game when most often your simply hanging back and shooting things 'til they die.

I would swap the missile launcher on the vets for meltas. I agree you need more troops. Dont bother with Sponsons on russes 99% of the time, they'll just take up space. Toss in your valk for more armor and as a transport
