Subject: Ig ccs W/ heavy weapon team in chimera question

I was looking at the IG codex and noticed that the CCS can take a Heavy Weapon Team, but can also take a chimera. Is it one or the other, or can the HWT embark in the chimera and fire from inside the tank?
For instance, could I have my autocannon HWT fire from the hatch of the chimera? I think it would take two of the five shooting slots, though.

As far as I know, you can take both but it requires 2 of the 5 slots to fire.
Best way to understand this is to think of the ammo loader getting in the way of allowing another lasgun to fire.

They only take up one slot. The rules say five models may fire out of the top hatch. The HWT is a single model.

HWT take up 2 model slots for transport. Why would it count as only 1 model for firing from access points?

Page 29 of the codex: "...A heavy weapons team counts as two models for the purposes of transport capacity but otherwise treated as a single model."
Yup, it takes up two transport slots. But I don't see anything in the rules that says it takes up two fire points.

Well then, I stand corrected.
It makes sense to me that they would take up 2, simply because the loader/spotter/giant battery operator would simply get in the way of a 5th gunner. Simply seems logical to me that if they need him to fire the weapon on the ground, they would need him front and center to fire it while in a transport.
But hey! I like this cause it means I can have even more in the back of my super heavy firing while I destroy my enemy in Apoc.

2 slots for transport, and 1 slot for shooting. I do it all the time with vets.

They don't. Which is why losing a wound (or losing either crewmember, in previous codexes where they counted as two separate guys) doesn't stop you firing the gun. The second guy is just there to carry the extra ammo.

Also - worth pointing ou thtat, as per p67, if the ded transport is bought for the CCS you CANNOT deploy a HWT inside it, they must embark turn 1.
Meaning you lose a turn of shooting, at least....

Sure you can, if the HWT is part of the unit that the transport belongs to. Now if you meant a HW SQUAD, you would be correct.................
Gotcha!!
