Just a small project to start me off on Flames of War: three Estonian SS Panther D tanks.

I was less impressed with these Battlefront models than I was expecting, I confess. The detail was OK, but the casting was garage quality, with substantial distortions on the metal pieces (albeit in places mostly hidden by the tank's skirts) and several areas of surface bubbling on the resin parts.

Still, I hope a few coats of paint will hide a multitude of sins!

So here's the first WIP shot. I've finished the airbrushing at this point.

Next I'll be adding a certain amount of detail and then weathering and touching up.

Well, here's that squadron, all finished:

I hope I'll be coming back to this plog in the near future to add some more FoW models. This has been a pleasant dip of my toe into Battlefront's waters and the models proved quick and easy to paint to a basic tabletop standard.

The one thing I would have liked to have done with these was to add some turret numbers, but the client didn't provide any decals and I've not got any, so I contented myself with adding tactical identifiers.
