So, I got back into 40k about 2 months ago. Brought my Dark Angels back to life, then start realizing I'd rather just play Codex Marines anyway. So this get's me thinking. Why not just strip my force of all Dark Angels markings, maybe think up my own paint scheme and make all my marines my own chapter. A lot of people do this and I think unique chapters have their place. My reasonings are not to be unique or special though, but so that by not being specifically tied down to Dark Angels, I could field them as Blood Angels, Space Wolves, Black Templars, etc. Now, I'm partially interested in this for the opportunity to try out their different play styles. The other side if me is looking at it for the cheesyness of just being able to stack good comps. Let me ask you. If it cheesy to do this? I kinda think it is personally, but the other option is I'm going to have to buy the exact same models and just put a different color on them anyway to play a different force. Seems like spending money for the sake of spending money. What are your thoughts?

It's okay if you have problems with money IMO it lets you play a lot of codeci whilst only buying 1 army.
If you are doing it just so you can play and win with the shiny new codex then that is being a bit d**kish...

So how do you discern one from the other? I look at both sides of the coin and favor them both. I do want to play the other codecies just to try say lots of jump pack troops, or lots of bikes, etc. etc.

But let's also be honest and admit that it would be really hard not to just field the best force at a local tournament.

But, those two do also go hand in hand. I play Dark Angels because I like the lore, the look the iconography, dudes in robes, etc. But I feel I would really enjoy the play style of Blood Angels a lot more.

It might be a touch cheesy to play a BA codex but with DA models...
Then again people shouldn't tell you what you should do since it is your hobby.
Do what you like and f**k the haters...
Haters gonna hate.
And, Hatters are gonna hat...
IMO it is perfectly reasonable to play a codex simply to enjoy a certain playstyle no matter how you do it.
