ok, so i have been planning a WoC army for a little while now, and i have decided to go for a pure tzeentch army with a crystaline theme. at first this was going to be crystal warshrines, crystal hellcannons, and crystal unit fillers; but then i thought to myself, why not make the whole army out of crystals and animated rocks, with the two sorcerers as normal 'humans' being the people that have animated the rocks.
i was thinking of having my marauders as floating rocks with crystal shard weapons and shields, the warriors as reanimated rock soldiers with crystal shard shields, and the chosen being bulked up versions of this resembling these http://www.google.co.uk/imgres?imgurl=http://www.deviantart.com/download/144674393/Stone_Golem_by_marcnail.jpg&imgrefurl=http://marcnail.deviantart.com/art/Stone-Golem-144674393&usg=__0t7AG6XSbj5DZdgKukBLKc_UPz4=&h=591&w=1024&sz=89&hl=en&start=9&sig2=611JB46insfmT-NeQINLcQ&zoom=1&um=1&itbs=1&tbnid=JmTURyjh1NMPEM:&tbnh=87&tbnw=150&prev=/search%3Fq%3Dstone%2Bgolem%26um%3D1%26hl%3Den%26safe%3Dactive%26client%3Dsafari%26rls%3Den%26biw%3D1282%26bih%3D617%26sout%3D1%26tbm%3Disch&ei=x1PtTfDaBdGq8AOAo6iaAQ
the warshrines would be large floating crystals engraved with runes, with satellite crystals orbiting them to represent the crew. there would be a similar design to the hellcannons, but more gun platform in structure.
not only would this be a very unique army, and pulled off well it would be stunning. but from the right supplier of foam, it would be incredibly cheap. all i would need to do would be to cut the foam into various crystal and rock shapes, then stick them together with paper clip pins, and coat them in airbrush primer (the lack of propellant/solvent meaning that the foam will not melt)

Id say as long as they have basic humanoid shapes (the marauders/warriors/chosen) then it would be awsome. Ive seen a Tzeentch daemon army where it was just floating crystals with no real shape and needless to say it was very discouraging and disapointing.
Like you said, it pulled off correctly, this could be amazing!

Or it could be even cooler but way more expensive if you created moulds and cast all your crystals with clear resin.... just think of all the translucent people smashing everything in their path....

I think this would be a cool idea for a VC army because of the Undead rule making them crumble after the general dies. Basically, when the controller dies the constructs do too .

hmm, you make a fair point, but i really don't like the vamps as an army, they just don't appeal to me

Tomb Kings would work for that idea too.

true, but with vamps and TK there is no fluff base for the crystals. in the WoC book, tzeentch has a large amount of crystal bits in the artwork
