I'm not expecting this to drum up much in the way of revolutionary conversation or anything, but just felt the need to vent my frustration at the folk behind the Garro audiobook. £10 for no more than a short story? Seriously? I was expecting a full epic ala all other Horus Heresy work, but instead ended up paying for something that was over in less than an hour and didn't finish the whole damned story!
Basically, the plot is
Sorry if this thread is out of place but I'm so at having wasted my cash on this trash that I thought others may be interested to know if they'd been thinking of buying it.
Cheers,
Kitch

I was not as upset. Because I knew it was short, but I love the heresy books too much not to get it.
Everyone should be aware that ALL of the 'audio books' are NOT audio books at all. They are all about ~1hr long. They are short stories. However they do have very good production with soundeffects and all.
I just got 'Lightning Tower' and 'Ravens Flight' on amazon.com for about 11.50 USD each. They were discounted from the 17.50 retail price.

I think they're ok if you can get them at a time there's a good discount.
I didn't like Oath of Moment so much, partially because I thought Malcador's voice was a bit silly--it reminded me of both Yoda and Palpatine from Star Wars.

Don't get me wrong - the stories are fantastic, and as SickSix says, very well produced but I don't agree with paying that price for what would only be, if in book form, sub £5.
You're spot on Magos, I made ther Yoda reference too, me thinks they need to bring on a cast of instead of the one bloke!

And I thought Legion of One was worth it. For the ending. But that's because I am a huge fan of character(s) involved.

I liked Oath of Moment and the other audio stuff as well.I do agree though, that a varied cast on them would be better than the one man.

Yes but just imagine the cost then! It's bad enough now with one guy.

Yeah, good story, but only half a job. Recruiting one bloke hardly tells the full story I was expecting.
Ah well.

Is the librarian's name given?
So we have Garro of the Death Guard, Iacton Qruze of the Luna Wolves, Gavriel Loken of the Sons of Horus, some random librarian guy of the Ultramarines, that still leaves 4 Space Marines for the original 8 of the Inquisition.

I was aggravated they put these in audio format rather than print. I have no desire to listen to someone tell me a story. I think that a series should concentrate on one medium. If you have a movie series that puts vital plot information into, say, a video game, (The Matrix) then you alienate everyone who can't play the stupid video game. In a similar vein, I want to read the Horus Heresy, but I certainly don't want to sit there for even a half an hour listening to someone read it to me.

the only Audio books that are actually books are the ones for preexisting books(like Horus Rising)
the ones which are only Audio are short stories which are written for tape.
if you want real books on tape you will have to wait for them to get the HH books on tape first(which they are slowely doing)
