I am coming into a bunch of IG stuff this week and was planning how I would play them(instead of being a responsible adult and focusing on work). I am getting a bunch of stuff but had a question about psyker battle squads.

If I have them embarked in a chimera, can they still use the soulstorm? It counts as a psychic shooting attack but in the BRB it doesn't say you can't psychic out of transports with firing points.

The only reason I am even questioning it is because I played a game a few weeks ago allied with a PBS and he disembarked to use it. Was he wrong or am I missing some rule here?

Provided the Chimera moves no more than 6" yes they can fire out the top hatch. If it moves 6"-12", the PBS must disembark to use the power, which is perhaps what your ally was doing. Generally safer to keep them in the big metal box though.

I checked there but it didn't say anything about vehicles, hence this thread.

I pretty much figured that it was legal but just wanted to get everybody else's opinions on it.

It tells you it counts as firing a weapon

You need a firepoint to fire a weapon, and, if you meet other criteria you can fire a weapon from a vehicle with a firepoint

My only concern about Soulstorm and a chim is this: Does the power come off 1 model ( he gets charged up by the rest of the squad) or does it come from the whole squad. A chim allows only 5 models to shoot. If it is the latter, then soul storm would be only str 5, and weaken resolve would only be -5 to Ldr.

.Only a fool believes there is such a thing as price gouging. Things have value determined by the creator or merchant. If you don't agree with that value, you are free not to purchase.

The PBS allows LOS and range to be measured from 1 model, so I figure that if one of them is sticking his head out the fire point it should be fine.

Yeah the PBS is considered 1 Psyker for the test and determining where the power comes from, but all models are counted for it's effects(they are not all individually casting, merely cheering on the model making the attack)

This is my Rulebook. There are many Like it, but this one is mine. Without me, my rulebook is useless. Without my rulebook, I am useless.
Stop looking for buzz words and start reading the whole sentences.

I don't think that is quite what is going on there, but that does provide some spectacular mental imagery...

I tend to kill off the psyker who I draw LOS and distance from if the group rolls double ones and only one psyker is given the emperor's grace. Always fun.
