Okay, so I have recently tried using catachans for my Penal legionnaires, I have to say that the gun arms are horrific. They really don't match up to the lasguns without them being bent out of shape. I have to say that I am extremely dissappointed with the quality of the kit. Have any of you had this problem?

yeah, the catachans look horrid. The metal catacans tho.. now THOSE are sexmachines. they actually look on the right side of gravity-heavy environment rather than steroid enthusiast

Yeah, it's a massive shame, but I need the less tunic-y look of the catachans (as opposed to the cadians) to make them look like the prison scum that they are.

theyre all OOP, or you might find them in the collector section of GW. Have a go on evay for metal catachans:

i had a gander and there's quite a bit of stuff for a reasonable price

Automatically Appended Next Post:
A lot of the stuff seems to include special weapons, I don't think its a big deal though, if theyre just penals, since they aren't allowed to have specials..... and then it also adds versatility if you change your mind and need a squad of vets.

They are the first generation of (post RT) plastic guardsmen and suffer for it (It's why I still prefer my RT Impy guard to them).

You can occasionally score them second hand and they can work with modern cadian bits with a little work.

I'm OVER 50 (and so far over everyone's BS, too).

Hey, if you need guys who look like prison scum, look for some of the old Necromunda Orlock and Goliath gangers. The original game had plastic ones of both, so they aren't nearly as uncommon as the other metal gangs. Goliaths may be a little too 'roided out for you, but the Orlocks make GREAT gangers.

I'll have a look at the Neromunda stuff. The old metal catachans that I've found have been either in pretty bad shape or fairly expensive. Another problem is that I'm using custom lasguns - which would be hadr to convert/mount on the metal figures. At the moment, I think that I'm going to have to just file the arms down until they match better.
