The idea is to attach a chaplain to each Death Company squad, thus nearly ensuring that the other unit will be wiped. The two assault squads are there simply to be scoring units, and the SR can mop up enemy armor if necessary. Thanks for looking!

I don't know where 70 points would come from though.

Maybe drop Lemartes and go with another Chaplain? The only thing Lemartes really has on the regular Chaplain is Fury Unbound which I don't think is really worth the extra 45 points not to mention that Lemartes comes with a jump pack which unless you plan on him going solo becomes useless in a unit without jump packs. Then drop 2 infernus pistols that would give you 80 points free. It feels weird not having a DC Dread in a list like this but then you would have to rework your entire list.

And just for personal liking, I would drop 1 group of DC and go with a full ASM unit with 2 meltas and a PF for 235 points. That would give you 1 extra scoring unit. If you drop the 285 unit that would give you enough to get a Priest with a jump pack and a bit to spare. Eh, but that's what I would do.

I like to have at least 3 possible scoring units, makes my chances of holding more points than my opponent that much better. DC are scarey, but pie plates will destroy them in 1 well placed shot.

EDIT: Grammatical errors.

I re-wrote the list almost entirely, and I'll leave a few notes at the end.

HQ

Astorath - 220 pts

Elites

Sternguard - 3 Combi-Melta, 2 Melta, Drop Pod - 185 pts

Sternguard - 3 Combi-Melta, 2 Melta, Drop Pod - 185 pts

Chaplain - 100 pts

Troops

Death Company - 9 Men Strong, 2 PW, 1 PF, 1 Infernus, Drop Pod - 285 pts

Death Company - 8 Men Strong, 2 PW, 1 PF, 1 Infernus, Lemartes, Drop Pod - 415 pts

Death Company - 8 Men Strong, 2 PW, 1 PF, 1 Infernus, Drop Pod - 265 pts

Assault Squad - Razorback, TL LC - 155 pts

Assault Squad - Razorback, TL LC - 155 pts

Using Drop Pod Assault, 1st turn the Sternguard could come down with one squad of DC. The vets would pop transports, and hopefully provide cover for the DC, so they can assault the next turn. The wonky squad numbers are to support transport capacity. The 9 man squad gets the Chaplain, and the 8 man squad gets Astorath. Fairly straightforward I suppose. Vets and Razorbacks pop transports, DC do the dirty work, and consolidate into cover as necessary.

@ P Monty I felt as though TL LC would do better than Las/Plas, simply because of the limited number of them. The LC shots need to do something, so the lack of TL is dangerous in my eyes.

@Mordechai I did think about getting another Chaplain, but since the re-write I obviously don't have enough room in my elites spot/my personal sense of fluff pride wouldn't allow it , and yes, I did think about the dreads, but simply couldn't find a way to use them effectively.

I like the second list much more. Now I may be crazy, but have you also considered maybe drop poding the RAS squads too maybe? I dunno if it would be better or worse, but its damn fluffy Then you could make em 10 man squads and give em special weapons. they could even be Tac squads. (Blasphemy!)

P.S. Get on ichat fool, i just saw you then you logged....

I'd play the Storm raven version. Those birds gives you total control of the DC units (and it can carry Astorath too) and 21" charge range. DC that come in with pod can be lured wery far from your original coal because they can't charge on the turn they arrive.

The second list is othervice better.

The problem with the Stormraven list is that true to their nature, the Stormravens got ed WAAAAYYY to early and crashed and burned, leaving the Death Company to foot it a long distance, and get utterly wrecked by incoming fire. I was playing Dark Eldar. At least if he tried pods, half the army is in your face turn 1, and after the Sternguard work their mojo, the Death Company come and clean up shop.

I really would never advocate the use of Stormravens. They suck. And I say that from experience not hearsay.

*I lied, Death Cult Assassins in a raven I'd consider... thats it.

Take DC dreads they cut through units like nothing and stormraven gunships to get up there and give ur opponent some big shiny stuff to shoot at!

Yes the lack of scouring units is a burden but if your opponent as 20 death company marines and two DC dreads they will probes forget about the objectives until there nearly all dead! Unless they are particually disciplined.

Also sorry for massive post before, I am more use to blogging. Cheers!
