I don't like the
WWP on a h2h focused Archon. Let's do a breakdown of what the Archon can do.
Turn 1 - The Archon can potentially assault using fleet even if you have first turn)
Turn 2 - The Archon can assault almost anywhere on the board.
Now, let's see when he assaults using a
WWP;
Turn 1 - The Raider moves up 12" Archon disembarks 2" and deploys portal edge 3" in front of him (when the Talos/Wyches show up on Turn 2 they will 'gain' about 8" from what they could have done starting on the board with an average run roll. If they show up any later than Turn 2 they will be slower than if they started on the board.)
Turn 2 - The Archon gets back in the Raider, the Raider moves.
Turn 3 - The Archon can assault almost anywhere on the board.
So, we're slowing down our Archon by 1-2 turns (almost half the game) which means he'll get into combat with 1-2 less enemy units over the course of the game.
We do this to maybe buy about 8" of movement for two of our units...if we're lucky.
I'd frankly drop the whole
WWP aspect from the army, you're already almost at the amount of points needed to buy a Raider for Lelith and crew if you drop the
WWP - I'll find you more points, don't worry.
Elite
9 Hekatrix Bloodbrides- 3 hydra gauntlets, 9 haywire grenades 165
I like these okay, though coming out of a
WWP you'd be better served by having a mob of 14 regular Wyches.
Same cost you could also get 10 regular Wyches, one of them a Hekatrix with an Agoniser.
for 9 regular Wyches including Hek with Agoniser you've basically bought a Raider for them in point savings, and can drop the
WWP 9 incubi- klavex upgrade, onslaught, demiklaives, Raider, flicker shield 248
Here's another issue with your little
WWP dip. You'll have a whole bunch of units on the board and your opponent will be like 'yo, tell me what's what so I know what to shoot' and you'll be like;
'Here are some troop choices, 2
KPs each, cost about 200'
'Here are some heavy choices, around 100 points each, 1
KP'
'Here's an uber Deathstar ultimate killing unit that's 4x more dangerous than anything else, costs 400 points, is 3
KPs and holds the key to bringing in about 400 points worth of support units'
Your opponent will then ask 'is that vehicle tougher to kill than the other vehicles in your army?' You will say 'Nope' and your opponent will then have a *very* difficult time figuring out what to shoot his lascannon at.
I'd probably save points by fielding less Incubi - it would also allow you to get a
PGL onto your Archon which would give the Incubi assault grenades and allow them to assault though cover without losing initiative - which is huge!
Troops
10 kabalite warriors –Raider, splinter racks, flicker shield 170

10 kabalite warriors –Raider, splinter racks, flicker shield 170

680 points for all this, and I think it's weak. Would you like to see my default Troop option?
5 Warriors w. Blaster in Venom w. S.Cannon upgrade. - 125
I could field 5 of those and have points left over for the amount you're paying to field 4 of the above. I would have better poison weapon saturation because I'd have more shots and be able to move around a lot easier. I'd also gain a dark light weapon, and still be able to alpha strike using my Blasters.
If I decide what's important to me is the lances, I could put them all in Raiders, and have twice the dark light firepower, and still be more affordable, and not worry about the poison so much because that's what my Archon, Incubi, Wyches, and Talos will take care of in assaults. No matter how you cut it I think there's a better way to handle this setup here.
Fast attack
9 scourges 198
200 points for some more splinter shots? Really? This is a very tacked on feeling choice. For the same cost you could basically be bringing a unit of Wyches in a Raider, or more Warriors in a Venom, or just about anything, and would have better units for less cost. I think these guys are a very weak decision.
Heavy support
Talos pain engine- +1 CC weapon, chain flails, heat lance 135
Ravager- flicker shield, chain snares 120
Ravager- flicker shield, chain snares 120
Chain snares? I'd take a shock prow first - though I still probably wouldn't do it on a Ravager.
If you drop the
WWP option you can drop the Talos, get an additional Ravager, and use the extra points to beef up/buy more units.
Hope that helps,
Thor.
