Forgive me for the noobness of this question, but about how long does it take for a new codex to get FAQ'd? A Codex: Grey Knight FAQ would really be appreciated. Opinions on how much longer we have to wait for one?

Well for one thing, the Plasma Siphon is extremely ambiguous on what weapons count as "plasma". There's also whether a Dreadknight with a teleporter is a jump infantry or simply moves like one. And if dread falcion count as two CCW or not. Plus a few other things, I'm sure.

Mat(t) Ward isn't just a fanfiction writer, he's the king of ambiguous wording.

Best FAQ they could do:

"We're sorry, Mat Ward screwed up. Please go back to using your old Daemonhunters Codex. Sorry for the mixup."

Read the entire INAT FAQ submission thread. There's a lot of stuff, from fairly minor wording issues to major points of contention.

I would second that. Or even better, "Mat Ward screwed up, here's the actual new grey knight codex, our bad guys, sorry for what we put you through."

You know, I have fantasies about a good GK codex. Fantasies. That's how bad ward f***ed it up. So much potential....

1) Does Hammherhand Stack?

2) How does a unit with force weapons work against a unit of muti-wound enemies? (wound allocation and Int steps)

3) How does brotherhood of psykers work with anti-psyker stuff like the DE crucible?

4) What is a Plasma Weapon?

5) Are GK vehicles always psykers? If a rhino rolls 1,1 while casting fortitude and stunns itself, does fortitude remove that stunned result?

6) Are the psyker henchmen 1 psyker per unit or per model? Are they Psykers at all? (they do not have the psyker rule)

7) How many bands of henchmen can you take with Coteaz? (6, 8, or unlimited)

8) Are hurricane bolters with psybolt ammo defensive? (probably not, but who knows)

9) How to multiple instances of Grand Strategy work together? can one unit have two strategies?

10) How does the Vindicare's Turbo Penetration round work against tanks? Does it roll 4D6 against a monolith?

11) WHAT IS A DAEMON? (very contentious YMDC thread on this one, locked and re-made and locked again)

That is just off the top of my head. Some of these question may have clear RAW in the book at the moment, but I feel that the FAQ could go either way on any of these issues.

I'm glad to know that I'm not alone in yearning for some Grey Knight FAQ.
Nobody has mentioned the first question though. Is there an average wait time for new codex FAQ, or is it just when GW feels like getting around to it, like almost every other aspect of their great game? (Notice: subtle backhanded complement )

Usually takes a few months, I'm sure there'll be a thread about it though when it's up.

The DE FAQ took about 3 months to go up, and people were excited that it was so fast.

I don't see the problem.

The Grey Knight Codex seems to be very clear in its rules. Sure there's some oversights, but it's nothing like, not even close compared to mess-ups like the recent Tyranid Codex. Mat Ward's last Codex, Blood Angels, needed just 6 pieces of errata. Less than half of those needed with the Dark Eldar Codex and less than 1/4 of the mess that was Space Wolves, which, with over 6 pages of FAQ also currently holds the record (yes, even ahead of Tyranids) in ambigious, unclear and simply poor wording of any 5th Edition Codex so far.

If Cruddace or Kelly could be taught to make "only" twice as many mistakes as Mat Ward, Codex quality overall would improve significantly.

Obviously you haven't had the time to look through the INAT FAQ submission thread, the codex is overflowing with poorly written/confusing rules. Also, as far as I can see, 'nids players got their codex nerfed pretty hard, but still have one of the most competitive armies. Sorry if GK players don't feel to bad for you when we are given the Codex that we were, especially after waiting so long for it.

But I digress, let us all just hope for a FAQ soon.

I don't know about you, but claiming that it is possible that the FAQ will come within the next couple of weeks sounds like it's as vague as it can be

he's on the INAT comittee and said they were postponing releasing their FAQ(now finished) until the GW one comes out, which he claimed would be very soon. I assume he has contacts.

why do people still think a GW FAQ is going to answer any of the questions asked?, no FAQ ever done by GW has ever answered the biggest questions asked by the players, or if they have they have answered them so poorly as to make the issue even worse, people really need to start learning from history.

The last few FAQ have been much better and much more extensive than some of the older ones. There were no questions that people wanted answered that were not asked in the DE FAQ
