Subject: Jump Packs & Assault

Heard something on a podcast this morning and it didn't sound right...
Jump pack troops can choose to 'hoof it' on foot and only move 6 in any movement. Is this correct?
When you assault or run, you do so on two feet.
It was stated that JP troops (Assault Marines in this case) take a dangerous terrain test when assaulting into a crater or difficult terrain.
I don't have my BRB on me, but I believe the 'taking dangerous terrain test on diff terrain' only applies when the JP troops use their packs, i.e. anything above 6 inches, deep striking or jumping in and out of buildings/diff terrain. If a JP unit runs into a crater or diff terrain why should it take the dangerous test.
The only counter to this I can see would be a fallback move which is 3d6 for JP troops, but clearly you are moving more than 6.

It's a simple question doctor... If the moon were made of spare ribs, would you eat it?

Due to stupid wording of the rule, JI always takes a dangerous terrain test when moving into or out of difficult terrain, no matter which way they chose to move.

7 Ork facts people always get wrong:
Ragnar did not win against Thrakka, but suffered two crushing defeats within a few days of each other.
A lasgun is powerful enough to sever an ork's appendage or head in a single, well aimed shot.
Orks meks have a better understanding of electrics and mechanics than most Tech Priests.
Orks actually do not think that purple makes them harder to see. The joke was made canon by Alex Stewart's Caphias Cain books.
Gharkull Blackfang did not even come close to killing the emperor.
Orks can be corrupted by chaos, but few of them have any interest in what chaos offers.

Yes, this is correct. Explicitly covered in the jump pack rules, give em a read
When you assault you move on the ground, hence you dont take a dangerous terrain test - just a difficult. Automatically Appended Next Post: Jidmah - not if they choose to "move as infantry"

Why not? The rule states:
"However, if a moving jump infantry model begins or ends it's move in difficult terrain, it must take a dangerous terrain test."
Doesn't seem to differentiate between moving as infantry or using the jump pack. In either case it would still be a jump infantry model.

But when it moves it is a moving infantry model, as that is how it dictates you "count as"

Ah, I see my error - the tiny difference between moving as infantry, instead of like infantry.
