So, i have a small game this weekend with my ogres, and I cannot for the life of me find anywhere in the rule book where it says If I must take a standard bearer, or at what points value one must be taken..

If this rule exists, can someone point out whereabouts in the book it would be?

You are not required to take a Banner bearer at all. Your army book will tell you which hero can carry the army battle standard, and at what cost.

You are not required to take either a BSB or a unit Standard Bearer.

However if you play Blood and Glory, without these you are likely to auto lose

Of course unless your playing bretronans. Bretronans are required to have a BSB. Other than that, what is said above.

You'll find the point details in the hero's section of your army book. It'll say what character (for ogres, it's a bruiser) can take the banner, and what restrictions there are if you do.

Unit standards are in no way required unless your brets like Artee mentioned.
