So this seems like a good idea to chronicle my progress of collecting, painting and fielding my first army the intention so far is to take a lot of pics of the minis as they are being painted of all different units in the hope that the more i put it out there the more i can learn and the better the next minis i work on will be that being said I'd love to hear from more experienced painters on how I might improve. Most updates I guess I'll probably ramble on a bit about the pics mostly for my own benefit to try and work out what I was thinking when I did that, a good opportunity for me to step back and critique my own actions.

So far my collection consists of the island of blood elves and a second swordsmasters and seaguard unit from another island of blood box. So without further a do the pics.

First mini I painted he is not complete as I am still working out how exactly to do the face, and the task of eyes is a little daunting as well.

A little bit further on progress i have a couple more done, a little bit closer to being called finished.

These are actually very good. For the face I'd go with a tan undercoat and then a skin colour. You don't need to add eyes (in fact one of the greatest improvements I've made is to stop doing them). Some shading may help.
In all seriousness if you keep it as neat as the rest of it and go back over your slips they'll look fine.

"But me no buts! Our comrades get hurt. Our friends die. Falkenburg is a knight who swore an oath to serve the church and to defend the weak. He'd be the first to tell you to stop puling and start planning. Because what we are doing-at risk to ourselves-is what we have sworn to do. The West relies on us. It is a risk we take with pride. It is an oath we honour. Even when some soft southern burgher mutters about us, we know the reason he sleeps soft and comfortable, why his wife is able to complain about the price of cabbages as her most serious problem and why his children dare to throw dung and yell "Knot" when we pass. It's because we are what we are. For all our faults we stand for law and light.

So I have been working on the champion for my swordmasters and recently took some pics of the end result all comments welcome.

I'm quite pleased with the result it's the first character I've painted and I think i'm making good progress as far as keeping things abit neater go and experimenting abit more. I'm still debating if I should blue wash the sword at his waist or maybe a red wash, something to make it stand out abit more from the silver if his armor it seems to blend in too much for my taste.
